Dusty Posted 4 September 2023 Posted 4 September 2023 Will be a big test for our defence. We’ve gotten away with quite a bit this year due to poor finishing so against better strikers we might have to be less open.
TrentFox Posted 4 September 2023 Posted 4 September 2023 (edited) Prepares for dog’s abuse ….. but KDH needs a break; would love to see Winks pushed forward a fraction - he’s easily good enough at this level - and Casadei has to start. Hermansen JJ Faes Doyle Ricardo N’Didi Fatawu Casadei Winks Mavididi Iheanacho Edited 4 September 2023 by TrentFox
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 4 September 2023 Posted 4 September 2023 One of us will have abandon their possession game unless we alternate periods of possession. Considering we will be away from home, and that Southampton are the only team in the league with more touches, more attempted passes, and more completed passes than us - it will probably be us that will have to cede possession. Which I don't see as a bad thing at all. Southampton are ripe for being picked off on the counter.

Arriba Los Zorros Posted 4 September 2023 Posted 4 September 2023 I really don't rate Southampton despite their good start. I think we'll win this and comfortably. 3-1 win. They will probably win the possession battle which as we know is the one that really matters.

lgfualol Posted 4 September 2023 Posted 4 September 2023 Hermansen Faes Vester Doyle Ric Winks Fatawu Casadei McAteer Mavididi Vardy Really want to see some intense pressing and fast attacking. 0-0 probably.

Spudulike Posted 4 September 2023 Posted 4 September 2023 Not expecting Nacho to play given that he went off with a knock on Saturday and will most likely be knackered after international duty.

My reckoning was it might encourage him to give it to Winks who is further forward. Also, having Ricky next to him, both are able to play 5 yard passes. Indeed, there’s an argument to say Ricky is wasted there as he does little else🤷

norwichfox Posted 4 September 2023 Posted 4 September 2023 The only things I expect are a longer thread due to the international break and a game of up-paced walking football. 1

Their defence is woeful - they've conceded three times as many goals as us in just five games. This is a very winnable game if Maresca picks our strongest 11. It is a winnable game and hopefully Enzo set's up as such. Ignoring all the boring self deprecation of some 'fans' on here, if Abdul starts with Casadei instead of Wilf then if expect us to be too much for a Clueless opponent on the back end of losing 5 nil !

Rather casadei and wilf dropping kdh tbh.
Stuntman_Mike Posted 4 September 2023 Posted 4 September 2023 Hopefully Nacho makes up for his shocker there last season and gets off the mark for this season.
Daggers Posted 4 September 2023 Posted 4 September 2023 Give both teams a football and they can go stand in their own penalty boxes and pass it about a bit for 90 minutes. 1
cityfanlee23 Posted 4 September 2023 Posted 4 September 2023 People STILL putting KDH in their starting 11, good grief. 2
izzymuzzet Posted 4 September 2023 Posted 4 September 2023 Toughest game so far on paper, wonder if we might see a switch to a proper back 4 with more use of the full backs. I'd like to see Justin come in for Vestergaard. Enzo seems reluctant to switch systems but we clearly need a bit more creativity and Man City have demonstrated a willingness to use the full back positions to provide this over the last few years. Mads Ricardo Faes Doyle Justin Winks Ndidi Fatawu Casadei Mavididi Vardy
danny2997 Posted 4 September 2023 Posted 4 September 2023 I’m not sure it’s really been his fault but given Hermansen hasn’t been able to keep a clean sheet yet, does there come a point where Stolarcyk is given a shot in the league if he’s done well in the cup?
