Jim Davidson working on the main five channels lol watched his documentary the other day and shows of the 90's big break and generation game were both great shows he was on. Of course Woke has taken over the BBC, so comedian's and presenters like Jim Davidson are trying to be phased out by the press. Some we must put of with the likes of Sue Perkins, Alex Scott, James Corden, Claudia Winkleman, Rylan Clark, Alan Carr, Michael Mcintyre irritating us to death.

I saw Jim Davidson in 1979 at Baileys.

Saw him again on holiday in Torquay 1995.

Both exactly the same shows.

Is leicesterpool genuinely a parody account? If so then that is some serious commitment.

There must have been a company making a good living supplying that type of gym equipment.  Now put out of business by the modern-day woke trends....

I can't work out if that's a joke or if you're being serious.

It remained a popular venue and continued until it closed in 1974. After its closure it became Baileys Club in the same year until its closure in 1977.

I thought of this thread earlier when I saw some youngsters chalking on the pavement. A rare sight these days and all the drawings were quite innocent too.

There was a small nod to the 21st century however - they had scribbled 'Like and Subscribe' under each one. :D

How?

I had the cane across my hand once, delivered by our sports teacher.

He called those trying to get out of sports and games as 'Dead Men'. He made them stand on a small raised stage area in the changing room, trying to humiliate them I guess.

I enjoyed sports but on this one occassion I didnt have my kit with me for some reason, so joined the Dead Men.

He chose this week to come up to each of us in turn, asking if we had a note from a parent excusing us from taking part. If the answer was no, then whack.

The cane was used freely in my school, I got it on my first day along with half the school as they shut the gate for the afternoon session and half the school were still on the park. I got caned plenty of times and I was one of the least troublesome kid in the class.

But the PE was the worst as we used to have to run around Victoria Park and the last one back was usually me, well apart from the single fat guy got the slipper. It was the very thick sole of a plimsole an I can tell you it hurt was more than the cane.

At the risk of sounding like the 4 Yorkshireman sketch - we had it tough.

When we got the slipper across our backside, the teacher drew a chalk X on his desk and we then had to place our nose on it, then whack.

I also had one of the climbing ropes across my backside because I leaped onto a rope and did a Tarzan impersonation.

Try telling the youngsters that today, and they won't believe you.

Is it just me or are a lot of young Brits picking up American accents, or at least a more American way of pronouncing certain sounds, especially vowel sounds like /əʊ/

Edit - I think I posted this in the wrong thread although this one is at least related to changes over time

That kid up the rope on the right was me aged about six.

I got to the top, my hands slipped and I fell. Split my head open, blood everywhere, and I can remember Peter Kempton looking over me and shouting "YOU CAN SEE HIS BRAIN!!"

I bet H&S wouldn't allow it these days.
