GingerrrFox Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 There’s zero chance he goes on loan if the club taking him expects us to contribute to his wages. Not a chance with our financial situation.
Sankey93 Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 If he does go then I’d be suprised considering our financial state! Enzo don’t seem use him so could be truth in this but we’re going to need to sign 2/3 CB’s cuz I imagine Souttar will follow Coady out the door.
Ric Flair Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 Got £5m left on the book value on Coady and dread to think what wages we're paying him. Doubt he goes to the Championship without us subsidising his wages and what's the point as we'll need 2-3 new CBs already. 1
Wymsey Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 Should he leave why would he go to Stoke, after last season? Think he can go to somewhere like Norwich/ WBA and do a decent shift there towards another crack at promotion for another couple of seasons, plus his leadership credentials will get very valuable.
whoareyaaa Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 Think he will be here next season if not why did we sign him 1
MPH Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 He could go to a relegated team - they are about the only ones in the champ who would be able to subsidize most of his wages. possibly Ipswich?

They had a good end to the season and Schumacher looks to have turned them round a bit. Their squad last season was better than their league position suggests and it looks like they're investing again this summer. I expect they'll be targeting the play-offs next season. And Coady wouldn't need to move house. It makes sense but, as others have said, only if Stoke are either paying a big fee to take him permanently or all his wages to get him on loan.
Claridge Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 much rather have him in the team in the prem than either of the other two
AyewJoking Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 how much did this guy cost? i know he got injured early on in his leicester career but Maresca just doesnt seem to like him??? 1
Grebfromgrebland Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 Another waste of transfer fee and wages. Hope his contract isn't too long
James_lcfc Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 Wasn’t this signing the outcome of the end of season review by the senior management team? That we lacked ‘leaders’ You need a group of players who are capable and driven. The whole ‘You need leaders in the team’ thing is so antiquated nowadays. Great to have around the place. Probably costs us £60k/week to have him around but still - Worth it!
Tuna Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 Don't see him having a future here with us in the Prem. Seemed a quality signing on paper.
LestaLad Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 No chance we should be selling or loaning him out. We’re already lacking CBs in my opinion and he’s no worse than Faes or Vestergaard. Plus he has the leadership and character we’ll need in a potential relegation scrap. 1

There are some rumours they are even higher than that as there was a promotion clause.
grth2004 Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 When I read our financial state last year signing him was one of the most ridiculous things to do considering we rarely used him. I am a fan personally but so far goes down as a weird signing and has the stink of a player bought be the board , what a waste of money. like the guy but Maresca doesn’t seem to so I’d look at selling.

Bourbon Fox Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 This is a load of aurora boreaollocks. No chance. 1

His calmness, maturity and leadership certainly played a big part in steadying the ship towards the end of the year. His interviews with media were class, never complained about not playing. When you’ve got that attitude from a leader, others follow. It’s what we lacked in our relegation season! 2
Dan Posted 20 May 2024 Posted 20 May 2024 Poor signing really. Luxury signing when we weren't really in any position to do so.
Viva Posted 21 May 2024 Posted 21 May 2024 We had to get promoted by any means this season. I think we had more of a chance with Coady in the squad than not, so for me he was a good signing. Would have played at lot more matches if it wasn’t for his injury last summer. Now we are back in the Premier League though, it’s not the kind of signing I would make now on those big wages. 1
Popular Post moore_94 Posted 21 May 2024 Popular Post Posted 21 May 2024 I thought it was a brilliant signing at the time and exactly what we needed - even with how much he cost Just unfortunate that he got injured in pre-season, and both Faes and Vestergaard were playing so well in the first half of the season meaning we couldn’t just drop either - otherwise I expect he would’ve played a lot / most games for us I don’t think a single Leicester fan saw that kind of turnaround from Vestergaard happening which made the Coady signing not really worth it financially in the end Personally I would still keep him - I don’t think we will get any offers that make sense financially for us to let him go anyway 6
