Pretty sure this would be done and dusted by now if he actually wanted to come.

 

Seems set on Roma, who clearly can't afford him.

Lots of people being negative/critical in this thread and speaking with some level of certainty...

 

1. We don't know for sure if we've ever truly been interested.

2. We don't know for sure how much effort we've put into this transfer - it could be just an enquiry, for all we know

3. We don't know what Roma's bid is (if at all), or Juve's stance

4. Soulé apparently doesn't want to come here... because an italian journo said so? He might be thrilled at our interest and waiting to see his options, he might have been 100% against coming to the UK from the get-go. He might've already agreed personal terms, he might've never heard of Leicester.

 

I don't know why people keep saying he's "set on Roma" or "We've been played". We might not get him in the end, but that doesnt necessarily mean our plans have been derailed. Everything is rumour and hearsay until its announced as official by the club(s) themselves.

I mean they aren't saying different things are they. Fab and Percy are reporting the same news just with a different perspective. 

 

We basically have a stalemate. It's not new to us, we've seen similar before. 

 

I don't doubt the player's first choice is Roma. I get it. If I wasn't a city fan I'd probably have the same preference. But at the end of the day, they aren't offering Juve what we are. 

 

So this will drag on a bit. He's hoping we drop out or Roma up their offer and Juve and us are hoping he gives up and comes home here. 

 

City fans will be defensive and touchy about this but it happens all the time in football transfers. Plenty of players we've signed might have hoped for other moves. It just is what it is. 

 

I just hope we get on with other business while waiting. As a club we tend to hyper fixate on one deal at a time which is fine but if we do it now we might miss out on our next targets.

we paid 8m

his buy out was 20m to a CL club.  It was around 10m too low but we were naive in the market back then and also desperate to secure the player ( who wasn’t keen to come). 

hindsight isn’t permissible in setting buy out clauses. They have to seem proportionate or they’re pointless in the negotiations. 

 

With soule, we should be setting a buyout at 50m/60m based on his fee around 20/25m.  that gives him some security that if he is mustard for us then he won’t be held here against his will because a club will pay that.

People are reading far more too much into all. This is a transfer deal in its normal guise. It’s just you have Italian journalists ready to broadcast everything to help their agent mates (and/or the clubs involve) maximise everything. 
 

Shout big numbers to appease supporters, claim preferences to do the same. Push it up. 
 

A lot of the time this back and forth would be done in confidence. Inter might have scupper the Sensi but they kept quiet

Percy clearly is very close to someone at Leicester as he never posts without concrete evidence and he always seems to get things right.

i could be wrong but I don’t recall him getting anything wrong.

If the lad doesn’t want to come to Leicester then we should move on, if this is all false news coming from Juve to increase his price who knows but we don’t need another sulking little boy who’ll spit his dummy out and go AWOL every time  he is upset !!

He said we’re hopeful of completing a deal this week….. meaning we’ve likely tabled Juventus’ asking price, and now it’s a case of waiting. Juve are just playing a bidding game, they will let him go to the highest bidder.

Previously the options were Leicester, a classic arsehole. in the middle of the British nowhere in a Club that will play to save itself and the Capital in a Europa League team, West Ham means London and competing for a UEFA place... slightly different, not to mention the salary.

 

Looks like the poster opines the move to West Ham is more favourable than Leicester.........

Anyone seen the telephone / answer machine scene in Swingers? This saga (thread) is like that. You establish a relationship, love, fall out and then break up. But in real terms, nothing ever happend. Your just a weirdo stalker!!!
