Popular Post Babylon Posted 18 August 2024 Popular Post Posted 18 August 2024 The fee could be made up if anything, could be £15m and the rest made up with clauses. Absolutely pointless going on about. 5

I think Cooper could to use a mix of formations this season, Skipp is experienced and a proper work horse. Like I’ve said, this season isn’t about refined football, we’re going to need to be hard to beat, and a bit rough around the edges….. Skipp will give us this. I’d much prefer Skipp as part of a midfield three with Winks and Ndidi over ****ing Hamza. The lad from Brighton will give us an extra creative dimension, but we’re probably worse off defensively, and Skipp will provide added cover for that. Id be happy with this signing. Nailed it. An actual measured/balanced view!
Popular Post StriderHiryu Posted 18 August 2024 Popular Post Posted 18 August 2024 (edited) If we are paying that much, he's coming straight into the first team. That makes me think we will shift back to a 433, which we tried against Shrewsbury. Klopp played 433 for years with combatitive midfielders, relying on the fullbacks and attacking players for creativity. One thing to keep in mind is that in most games this season, the opposition will have more of the ball than us and we will be counter attacking, even if we don't set out to play that way. Most teams have better squads than we do. For that reason having industrious players in the middle of the park who know the league and can compete is a good thing, and provides a platform to give us a chance to stay up with. My concern would then be with Kristiansen as I don't think he's good enough to play as a raiding left back, but we could put JJ there and then bring back Ricardo to the team. With this signing I feel like I am starting to see some kind of strategy with our permanent transfers. Skipp will stay with us if we get relegated, as will Okoli and Reid. Skipp I suspect will become the mainstay of the team for the next 3-4 seasons regardless of what division we are in, and I expect a Harry Winks style effect where he goes from written off to beloved. Though not neccesarily this season! 20M is a bit tough to take, it's very much Premier League tax. But I think he's a good player. Edited 18 August 2024 by StriderHiryu 6
Popular Post Pliskin Posted 18 August 2024 Popular Post Posted 18 August 2024 This is amazing….. my mate a spurs fan says he’s brilliant, and would be perfect for a new team in the premier league, and we’re all losing our heads? I think it’s clear that we need another CM. Soumare is shit Hamza is shit And that leaves Winks and Ndidi……. One of those two gets injured, we’re ****ed. Skipp is a decent player, it definitely is not £20m it will be more like the £8m plus add on’s that my mate stated. Despite what people think, we do need a player like Skipp. It’s clear we are still looking to bring more in, a striker and a left back, perhaps Cooper has thought he can rely on Alves as an attacking option, would people not prefer that if it’s the case, rather than sigh someone? 15

Totally different players obviously but clearly the stats you’ve said are why people would want Hamer - we really need some creativity in this team
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot Posted 18 August 2024 Posted 18 August 2024 Good signing - talented player with top flight experience but his best years still ahead of him. Goes straight into the first team and already has a long-established relationship with his midfield partner. Still our fans moan 1
FosseSpark Posted 18 August 2024 Posted 18 August 2024 Is Skipp better than Soumare, Choudhury and Braybrooke (who could end up being great)? Yes. Are we softer centred than a strawberry cream roses chocolate at your aunties on boxing day? yes we are. on that basis its good business. doesnt mean we dont need 2 or 3 more players.. if it frees Winks, Ndidi, Buonanotte to get the ball out to Mavi and Fatawu then im all for it. 2

I don't believe Leicester will have offered £20m up front so on that assumption this looks fine IMO

Skipp is young with good Premier League experience at a top 6 club.
Aleksz Posted 18 August 2024 Posted 18 August 2024 I think Skipp is quite underrated and has a decent ceiling once he gets a run of games, but - to sign him and spend this money on him before getting a proper KDH replacement and a new striker is beyond stupid. I don’t understand the priority order here at all.
kingfox Posted 18 August 2024 Posted 18 August 2024 My post came before I saw the £20 million valuation rumour, I don’t mind Skipp, but surely we haven’t banged £20 million on him outright, he’s a player I’d probably value at between £10-15 million. Anything higher then Levy has done a proper number on us. 1
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 18 August 2024 Posted 18 August 2024 Given Ornstein is a London based football correspondent, you can guarantee the headline fee has come from the Spurs camp. The £20 million amount is also listed as the ‘total amount’ - so i suspect there might be a bit of totting up everything in that fee reveal. I imagine there’s quite a bit of structure to the deal with the upfront amount being a lot less - but at the cost of more in terms of fee for appearances, fee for avoiding relegation etc. 1

I’m sure we will sign players in those positions before the end of the window.
RowlattsFox Posted 18 August 2024 Posted 18 August 2024 He might work out OK but I don't think he solves anything for us. Other than perhaps pushing Hamza further away which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Patrick Posted 18 August 2024 Posted 18 August 2024 Seems like a lot of money for him. Had a look on the Spurs forum and many of them say he's not the same player since a major injury and has lost all of his athleticism.
