Larry_LCFC Posted 5 October 2024 Posted 5 October 2024 He has a role to play, and I don't blame him for being generally shite. It's Cooper completely misusing him. He's what we need to see out a game, can hold the ball well but also offers an attacking threat in small doses. I don't think even he thought he'd be starting every match 3

Wins freekicks etc. I'd rather play fatawu but he's not doing a bad job I think there’s a very large number of Premier League footballers who would say they offer significantly more to their team than the your definition tbh 😂

Still I guess there has to be at least 1 player getting undue stick at all times on here I’ve not, I’m just responding to some of the remarkable praise he’s had on here today. He played well against Palace, but today he wasn’t outstanding, he was pretty average, didn’t look dangerous and he didn’t press well. I don’t dislike the guy, he’s miles better than BDCR for a start!!

Chill, it’s a saturday - have a beer or something. 10 posts on why you hate Jordan Ayew so much is a strange hill to die on. +3 today let’s not forget.

Where have I stated that Mavididi played well today? He didn’t. If you want my thoughts on him in this Ayew thread though, I’d say Cooper’s system doesn’t help him as he plays as the only wide winger, making it easier to mark him out of the game. I’d still select him over Cooper’s other fave left sided player (BDCR) every day of the week though.

It’s even more strange to die on the Ayew has been great hill too. For those on that hill I’d suggest cutting down on the beers. 1

Just find it strange that Ayew is the scapegoat when others have played worse e.g the golden goose’s Mavs and Vardy 1
Paninistickers Posted 5 October 2024 Posted 5 October 2024 Decent bench player. His general arrogance/swagger is good to have around too. That's it.

Ayew does not press. Yeah, anyone comparing him to Okazaki needs to watch some old games back and watch the shift that Okazaki puts in. 6
roblcfc84 Posted 5 October 2024 Posted 5 October 2024 He did well today, ok he didn’t create anything but if you actually watch the game countless times he won the ball, or held it up, must have won 7 or 8 free kicks. We are not in a position to play teams off the park so he does a valuable job. I do agree 65 mins in he was spent and needed to be switched. And against teams around us and home games we should win, I’d rather see Fatawu on, but he definitely offers something. 1
kyleolly Posted 5 October 2024 Posted 5 October 2024 He actually got in to positions in the first half where defenders had to follow him which allowed Buonanotte space to drive forward
Popular Post The Doctor Posted 5 October 2024 Popular Post Posted 5 October 2024 he was crap. literally all anyone can say for him is "he wins free kicks" but is that actually a good thing? he's got the first touch of a cart horse and on the press he arrives 5-7 business days after the ball has gone. first half everything good in our attack avoided him, second half his ambling about, making Soumare look like a reincarnation of Iain Hume, played a huge part in allowing Bournemouth the freedom to just keep attacking 3 2

Foxestalk has decided that because he doesn't offer much going forwards then keeping possession must be a strength of his but here it says that holding onto the ball is a weakness. How odd.

HankMarvin Posted 8 October 2024 Posted 8 October 2024 We brought a free kick specialist unfortunately it’s not the type that scores goals 3
Popular Post Ric Flair Posted 8 October 2024 Popular Post Posted 8 October 2024 Never seen an attacking player have less shots or create chances since Okazaki. He did extremely well because we had high output machines like Vardy and Mahrez but given Cooper's system attacks with only 4 players going forward, rather than 5 like we did under Enzo and one of them is a master at hiding then it's no surprise we prop up the table on shots and chance creation. He should be nowhere near this starting eleven. Impact player at best. Exactly what I called out in the summer is happening, he was never going to be just a squad player. 8

I’m not sure what sort of impact I’d expect from him. It’s like watching a firework you’ve lit, that then doesn’t go off. I’m not angry, I’m disappointed. 2

pmcla26 Posted 8 October 2024 Posted 8 October 2024 Last season 90% of the players fitted into Maresca’s system. Our window meant we got the right profile to have two of each player in nearly every position that could slot seamlessly in. This is one of Rodgers’ squad building faults where we ended up having a disjointed team in 22/23. Players like Ayew, Edouard and BDCR who aren’t like for like/similar to others in their position, but in fact completely different, upsets the balance once again. 1
