I'd love a non-league standard team in the draw.

Someone like Spurs would do.

Close (for us Foxes). ManUre. We can do this! RvN will be happy.

Aside from our draw, for the competition it's quite a good round. Some good ties including lots of PL teams away:

Plymouth vs Liverpool
Leeds vs Millwall (?)
Orient/Derby vs Man City
Exeter vs Nottm Forest
Doncaster vs Palace
Coventry vs Ipswich

Blackburn vs Wolves
Birmingham vs Newcastle
Mansfield/Wigan vs Fulham

Only 4 all PL ties.

Liverpool and Spurs games will likely be the Sunday terrestrial tv games. Both play in the league cup on the Thursday before.

Much better draw. Thought with most PL teams going through it would lead to less interesting ties. Enough have been drawn away to make it intriguing.

Why?

Personally prefer the gradual suspense to potential penalty shoot-outs.

Problem is the suspense usually ends when the higher league team wins in ET.  Smaller teams would have a much better chance if it went straight to pens.

Why can't the clubs in League 1, 2, the National League all come together to air their financial concerns for the future - urging more support from the FA/top-flight management?

The thing is, to be fair to those playing in European competitions, they have a point in saying any potential replays in an already-tight fixture schedule could be difficult in terms of player recovery etc.

Apparently some non league clubs wanted to scrap replays too ?

Talk of no extra time and straight to penalties now .

Replays have gone because the schedule has been cramped by extra European games. Nothing to do with workloads, player welfare, the space has been taken by extra matches involving six teams.

Money to money

National League were as good bribed themselves - they got a tidy sum of money to take part in some nonsense National League Cup feature U21s PL teams.

Think League 1/2 teams were partly glad they didn't have host replays in Round 1+2 which lost them money

Extra time does give premier league clubs an advantage. Tamworth for example were dead for them extra 30 minutes. Pens... you never know. Even prem clubs may back that.

What would be a good will gesture by Tottenham is to offer a pre-season friendly down the lamb ground in the summer, help bring some extra revenue to the club. Cardiff for example invited Chasetown to play at the Cardiff City stadium just after it opened.
