Today will probably be a step to far with the players we have missing- I think it’s all about the ‘how’ today - hopefully ruud can find a way to get that extra few % out of each of them and they give a good account of themselves - Newcastle are very good at home - let’s be honest we would never expect to get anything up there no matter what form we are in (bar 2015 obviously) - don’t get pumped - keep some of the momentum going

Ahh - but not the same reason we sold Elliot Anderson to Forest £35M and brought Vlachandh Greek 3rd choice keeper back for £20M. - Just to strike an even on PSR, because we'd already fukyd our balance sheet - hence why we sold Wood to Forest for massive money, and why Shelvey went to Forest and straight to Turkey on his contract.

The whole system is default and corrupt. No longer will a club bring through players and have them win something alltogether

I have pure hatred for that because our ownership could have solved this before it became an issue.

Whilst I agree that PSR is a massive barrier that both of us have either fallen foul of or ran in to huge issues with, we have also proven you can win things and bloody the nose of the greedy 6 multiple times.

I think you're under achieving with the squad you have and whilst PSR leaves little margin for error for ambitious clubs trying to break through, you've got to have the determination to go against the grain and achieve. They don't like it either when you do.

Vestergaard didn't play one single minute during the relegation season.

It must have been the season before. I thought he had played at the start of that season and then dropped.

Dan Burn and a creeking Fabian Schar?

The pace in Newcastle's defence relys on Pope crashing out and booting it beyond the Sun!

Pope's injured, our best CB is still crocked - we've got Slovakia's greatest GK that couldn't save a grain of sand.

Howe will probably play our best academy grad in last 15 years - Sean Longstaff! - he will play a Jacob Murphy who was binned off his loan in low Championship. He's always been the worse brother, Josh is good at Pompey.

Now Wor Amanda has gone, PIF don't give a toss if Newcastle reach 12 - LIV Golf, Saudi Pro League y Ronaldo, Boxing, World Cup.....Newcastle.

You should join our forum permanently.  You're sounding just like a Leicester fan in your appreciation of your team, especially during our dark days under Cooper.

He started 6 PL games in 2021/22, none of which we won, the last one being the infamous 2-3 Bergwijn game against Spurs in January. I think Rodgers probably scapegoated him for that debacle.

I certainly remember him playing very well against Man City that season- uncoinicdentally the only time we didn't play the suicidal high line.

They've won 3 drawn 2 lost 2 at home so far this season, scoring 8 and conceding 8. I'm not expecting us to win, but given the players they have, their home form has been awful this season. I'm surprised Howe isn't under more pressure to be honest.

It's becoming clearer to me that the Vestergaard horror show in the relegation season was predominantly down to the way Rodgers set up.

He's looked a different player ever since Rodgers left.

Yeah I agree. It was not a criticism of them as players, purely a comment about pace when I said dynamic.

Coady and Vesty both have plenty of positive traits so we just need to protect their lack of pace.

Need to get an early goal in this and not leave it to come from a losing position because these will waste time as soon as they can. Pope will have the ball for about 20 minutes of the  game if they are winning

As did most of the team.

One reason I give all players a fresh start under a new manager.

OKperhaps not Ward but the rest.

Because Rodgers continued to play a high line, despite the fact we were getting pummelled like Pamala Anderson circa 90’ era.

A draw will do or even a good performance in a narrow loss . Realistically we were always going to have to field our strongest XI to get a win

Yep. It's not this kind of game which will define whether we stay up or not- if we see a bit more structure and limit them to less than 20 shots on goal then it's progress in my eyes (granted, a very low bar) lol

Speaking to a Newcastle fan last night and he fancied us to pinch it 1-2 today lol

Sounds like they've got a lot of injuries and really struggling atm.

I dont know what to expect, but just another good performance I'll be happy with tbh.

I work with one. He's been telling me all week they smash us 4-0. Today he's stopped dreaming and thinks 1-0 either way.
