Nolucklcfc Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 Not sure why saints would sell to a direct rival even if he is in the last throws of his contract … I’ve always liked him though.
Tielemans63 Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 I've always thought he looked a decent player. Gets forward well.
Wink84 Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 I'd take him. Improvement on Justin and can play LB if needed. Can actually create from RB too.
nettle Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 I think he's a decent player certainly someone who will hit the ground running and a good step up from what we've got 1
JimJams Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 The optics of selling one of your only decent players whilst propping up the table in January are terrible. To sell him to the team sat just above you would be horrendous. It's not happening. 2
fox_favourite Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 So would he move from one relegation threatened team to another? Even though we have a better chance of surviving
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 Not happening. Sky Sports looked at us, saw we need a RB then looked who’s out of contract soon

If he's out of contract and they're losing him for nothing in the summer I can see the sense - although it's absolutely depressing stuff if you're them.

It would make financial sense, certainly, but the optics would be horrible. You can imagine their new boss would be annoyed for starters.
FoxinNotts Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 No serious link here. Just speculation, unfortunately

Pinfox Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 Sounds like a good link, shouldn’t pay more than £2-3m, good age, prem experience and would know Winks and Skipp I assume.
Tuna Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 Always thought he looked pretty solid. You'd think he'd know Winks as well. Would endorse this! 1
ithuriel Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 More chance of Rudders coming out as a trans-jellyfish.
StanSP Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 Thought he was over 30 but he's only 27! I'd take him, would be much better than Justin. How much will Southampton rinse us for

DLH Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 Wouldn’t be against this if the terms are favourable. (That’s a big IF, with Rudkin as DoF). Still got plenty to offer for the next 4 years, I’d imagine. Hopefully other targets, in other positions are on the younger side. Don’t want a side littered with players past their prime. Especially if we go back down.
honeybradger Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 He better than our fullbacks due to his quality on the ball but he gets bypassed defensively pretty easily. 1
Walshy5 Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 (edited) Yeh let's sign a full back from the only team in the league who's defence is worse than ours! Honestly you couldn't make it up! Edited 1 January 2025 by Walshy5

Honestly you couldn't make it up! Bit of a simplistic way of looking at it. Football is a team game and plenty of good footballers play for bad sides. For instance we are in the bottom 5 for goals scored but that doesn't mean a bigger club will be put off from signing Bilal. Edited 1 January 2025 by The whole world smiles 2
Jaspa Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 (edited) They've just got Welington Damascena in on a free. Their forum seems to be arguing about whether or not they should sign a player from Betis for £30m because they think they're doomed with or without him. KWP would cost more than £3m anyway, even if his contract is almost up. Been a very good player, way too good for the Championship last season. Edited 1 January 2025 by Jaspa
