I know there'll be a meltdown that he hasn't played the kids but I think this is spot on.

Play our strongest team and build some confidence, form and momentum.

I've got no issue with this.

There is only so much confidence that you can gain from beating QPR, whereas fatigue  and injuries don’t care who you are playing.

Somewhat surprised with that strong starting line up, and a bit disappointed no young lads have been given a shot on the bench.

With us struggling for a winger and at full back, would have been the perfect opportunity to throw them in.

Anyway, let’s hope that means a confident performance and a comfortable win!

We’re the famous Leicester City and we’re going to Wembley!

Your Leicester City team on our first step towards another trip to Wembley.

Stronger team than he picked for Villa! Guess he is hoping for a morale boosting win. If we don't get one, confidence will be through the floor, though.

We desperately need to build some confidence, but most of these players will be asked to play three games in a week. No Alves on the bench is baffling decision.

We are desperately out of form. A defeat, at home to QPR doesn’t help that. Playing ourselves into some sort of form and a line up that (injuries permitting) will be the line up for two crucial home games coming up.

Maybe one or two youngsters on the bench but speaking frankly, none of those chosen have earned a day off.

Play well, put the last 5 behind us. Wednesday is massive.

Pleased we have started with a strong team . Get a win and confidence will be up for the next few games. Would be nice to have a few of the academy on the bench but if ruud doesn’t think we should then we have to go by what he thinks

Why does everyone think Alves is that good? I mean, if he was that good, he surely would have broken through by now?

Yep he would, Fatawu and bilal both similar age. if your good enough your good enough

Nice to have someone who takes cups seriously. What did you expect, we played his man united side in a cup they dont consider important and he went full strength for them as well… and that gave them a huge boost and they improved in the league. No alves on the bench just tells me he’s in negotiations for a loan somewhere and nobody else is close to making it

Plays kids - idiot

Plays first team - idiot

Doesn’t beat Liverpool, Man City or Villa - idiot

Builds team to attack - idiot

Plays defensively - idiot

Who’d be Ruud?

If I was alves I’d be leaving by now- how he doesn’t get minutes in this game is mind boggling

If he was currently good enough, he’d have played more minutes under various managers.

Good call. Make them play and show that they can actually go 90 mins and appear to be premier league footballers.

Saturday to wednesday turnaround shouldn't be an issues. Players should be chomping at the bit to get us out of this situation.

I agree to an extent but Alves or even Monga on the bench ahead of Ayew or Reid in a cup game wouldn’t have hurt!

And go where ? No one would take the risk on him other than a lower league club.

Also, this is the first game where the pressure of the league isn’t on Ruud, the players. They haven’t had a pre-season together. It’s been relentless and brutal since the start. I’ll happily watch them experiment and learn in a cup game (this season) to enable the Ruud style to flow through.

Maybe Ruud is still trying to instill his way of playing into the team.  A competitive game with little at stake could be useful for that.

Bit disappointed not to see some youth though, at least on the bench.

Agreed. Five losses on the trot - the side needs some success, plain and simple. They should be well-rested - play a strong 11 and get a win.
