They really shouldn't have let the game go ahead knowing that this was a possibility. Cancel the play off semi pending investigation and then at least Hull know to expect all outcomes in who they could face.

Doing it like they have has opened the biggest can of worms.

If Tottenham were relegated and acted in the exact same way southampton have, there is absolutely no way they would have been expelled from the play offs. A large fine would be the punishment or something unremarkable.

Having said that its still funny, after how some of Southamptons fans behaved with our own debacle.

Maybe just void the whole season and start again?

This has to be the best option. Although knowing our useless ****s they will just get relegated again

Sky sports say it could be tomorrow.

"The appeal has now been going on for more than three hours. We've been told we don't know exactly when it's going to end, but the verdict is will come tonight or tomorrow.

We've just been told it's going to take as long as it takes. But the clock is ticking, and everybody involved knows that this has to be done quickly.

What is likely to be happening is that Southampton's lawyers will be arguing that the punishment is far too severe. They will be citing previous cases when this kind of thing has happened in football, when it usually ends in a points deduction or a fine.

They will accept that they have broken the rules, but the punishment has to fit the crime. They will be arguing it is far too severe to kick us out of the Championship play-off final."

Unsurprisingly, Southampton have lost their appeal.

Never been so wrong so quick in my life 🤣

Southamptons shit to sort now then. Hulls owner hasnt said if they lose on Saturday they wont take legal action against, i assume, the EFL or Southampton.

What an absolute farce.

There we go then. Ruling stands as it should.

Wonder how many other times they actually spied on opponents. Oxford in Dec then only apparently did it again in April for Ipswich away. Very much doubt that...

Someone questioned the Wrexham game on a podcast. Said Southampton strangely changed formation and players in that game.

Not proof as that could be just good management, but you have to question their run to the playoffs now....rightly or wrongly.

Feel for the fans though, this is a awful position for them. Tickets for travel and hotels paid for and how many are not refundable?!

I guess not many teams train in such open environments?

Its bonkers how easily they were caught.

There run to the playoffs suggests there is more but I guess it can't be proven

I know we are an absolutely shitshow, but **** me, what a stupid football club.

This is a club whose most iconic former player is a whacko conspiracy theorist, who had Rupert Lowe as an owner, appointed Clive Woodward as Director of Football, lose 9-0 in consecutive seasons, have Rishi Sunak as a fan, have probably a weirder fanbase than us, had statistically the second worst top flight team ever and now. At least for all our stupid shit we've won a fair amount of big trophies.

Another thought...

Funny how you can handle 25 charges of spying faster than 115 financial charges

always one person who bangs on about the 115 charges.

Completely separate ball game, no comparisons whatsoever. It's a silly comparison.

As someone pointed out, Can’t remember if it was here or X, they’ve conveniently only been found out for the games where they didn't end up winning. There was defo more.

I should imagine every single game as they were getting away with it. Like I said earlier their novice manager puts together an unbeaten run like that with a few surprise thumping of  teams as well with a 62% win rate!

Hope Hull win the final now.

Don't want to see Middlesbrough celebrating with straight faces when they lost the semis. Not saying Southampton don't deserve chucking out but Boro are lucky because I think it made very little difference.

As we love Southampton cast-offs, I look forward to us appointing William Salt as our intern analyst this summer.
