Who would you keep?

Whilst watching the match yesterday I was thinking just how dislikeable our squad actually is, so it got me thinking that if (when) we get relegated, how many players would I actually quite like to keep in the squad for next season.

You forgot BEK, who I imagine will be top of most people's lists.

 

The only ones I like are the ones that will probably be sold - Mads, Fatawu, El Khannous. Vardy should retire. The rest of them? Wouldn't care if I never saw a single one of them in a Leicester shirt ever again.

This, nobody else will want those we don't. There's a lot who could do a job in the Championship though.

The biggest thing for me is the total lack of mentality, these lot are all so soft and spoiled. They're all massively overpaid, and as soon as the going gets remotely tough they just **** it off. I'd love us to be able to bin them all and build a new squad from scratch.

Only Fatawa, BEK and Mads from the listed players, Mads will be sold though would also keep Jakub, Nelson and Alves from the players not listed above.

Bilal but he could be sold but we'd want to at least make our money back so not sure anyone would pay it. 

 

Fatawu providing he recovers well from his injury. 

 

I obviously love Vardy but I think it's time for him to retire now. 

 

Other than the youth players, not sure I'd be fussed about keeping any others. 

 

Think we should tell Monga he'll be in the first team squad next season in a hope we can keep him, if he's not already joined Man City.

The longer the season goes on the less I think Mads will get a big move, the dross in front of him isnt helping his cause. Possibly abroad, but he might end up a target for a middling Premier League team if they lose a keeper. 

 

Faes, Soumare, Ndidi and Daka will get a move abroad if we don't be stupid and demand too high a fee, someone might pick up Winks as a squad player, Okoli will go out on loan, Bilal is talented but not sure he's done enough but I'm sure he will have suitors for the right price but I feel he's the one we need to play hard ball on.

 

Hopefully can get Coady but will be stuck with Vestergaard you imagine, also stuck with Ayew and Reid but will probably do an ok job in a potentially young squad.

JJ might have completely dropped off PL level, but he's fine in the Championship and he doesn't have a bad attitude. We need to spend money elsewhere.

Ricardo, Ndidi, chose other because despite his detractors I'd happily keep McAteer around for another Championship campaign, lad at least gives a shit and was effective last year.

 

Accidentally selected Mads to keep but i think realistically he needs selling alongside BEK to maximise our budget to rebuild. We have a perfectly good backup in Jakub for the second tier. And both are realistically getting poached even if we somehow survive.

 

Bin the rest to whatever extent possible.

If Maresca is still at Chelsea, with how shit their keepers have been at times I'd be very surprised if he doesn't end up there

I think people are taking it for granted that PL clubs are going to want any of our players.

 

Has Bilal done enough to attract any interest.  We would need £21m just to break even.  He has 2 goals and 1 assist.  I don't see many clubs queuing up for him. 

 

Similarly, mads started the season really well but was out for a good portion of it.  I'm not sure we can assume a top club is going to want him. 

 

I hope we can get actual money for the likes of Faes and Soumare.  Obviously it won't be fortunes but hopefully we can scrape together a few quid selling off the dross rather than the family silver.

I don't really like any of them apart from Vardy for obvious reasons. That's not to say we should keep him.

 

Will Rudkin put the work in to find a decent replacement or do the easy thing and offer another contract to an ageing player far past his best?

Mads is gone, to be honest, we'll need one sellable asset to help balance things and be able to reinforce. He's the most obvious. I can't imagine us really getting Bilal to play in the Championship either but I could be surprised. 

 

The biggest problem is the defence. They're all shit and none of them have any warrior spirit to them at all. Pretty much sack them all off except maybe Woyo who I think might end up being a low key brilliant signing for the Championship.

 

I wouldn't be upset if we lined up like so on day one in the Championship:

 

Daka 

Mavididi, Bilal, Fatawu 

Winks, Ndidi 

New, New, New, Woyo 

Stolarczyk 

 

We can throw all our money at getting a decent defence and a decent manager and that's a team that'd get us promoted easily. 

 

Appreciate Daka is the one that's going to raise the most eyebrows but we'll need to sign a young striker anyway, we'll never do all year with Vards and Daka again if Vards even stays.

I’d like to see us do what other clubs have done and loan out talent like Bilal to Europe under the premise we might be back up the next year.

I’d like to think Nelson could be one of those centre backs. I’d be happy if it was also Souttar but I don’t think he’ll be fit. I don’t know how Nelson and Okoli would work together. We would seriously need to shift the likes of Faes and Coady if we want to invest in that area as we have a lot of numbers already.

Surely we need to keep him another season to build his value back up. Don't think we'd get his true value this summer
