Mickyblueeyes Posted 13 January Posted 13 January The feeling I’ve got hearing about this is the same one had we made a major signing. It’s so good for the club to see this go - even if it’s temporary. 1

Soumare has ligue 1 written all over him, its just getting someone to take a punt You can tell me it’s written all over him, he won the thing before stepping up to the big league!

kingfox Posted 13 January Posted 13 January This would be the second best outgoing in Leicester City history, the best will be the day he leaves permanently. 2

I think each could thrive in the PL too, with decent coaching, a winning team, playing to their strengths and the pressure lifted off being by not being paid obscene sums which the players themselves know they can't provide value for. Most of the players have worked with us in appalling circumstances.

It's only because we've had a decade of Rudkin we have this Stockholm syndrome. We saw it in the summer, nobody would possibly pay that much for El Khanouss/Justin/Ndidi - they did. We know Faes is shit but that's after years of watching him make mistakes in a poor team. Other club will recruit for specific position/skill set in a certain budget, Monaco will probably have kept tabs on him in France. Or it could be they just haven't done enough due diligence on the deal but with a loan with an option, it's risk free. Bad players get offloaded all the time, it just requires clubs to freeze players, get their agent working hard and alerting the market and the press they're available, it's just we have a beyond useless DoF. CAn't say for certain but I feel as though Monaco would have bought him for £4m now but because we just can't negotiate they've came out of this deal with no downside at all (bar having Faes). I half expect him to do well just Justin, Perez, Tielemans etc have after leaving - even though they were a busted flush towards the end here. Look how much Southampton consistently sell absolute crap for despite winning about 5% of top flight games in the last half a decade. We loan El Khannouss out with an option to buy. They sell Mateus Fernandes for more than that loan to buy option fee. 2
jim5000 Posted 13 January Posted 13 January He’s been a disaster since he scored two own goals on his debut
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 13 January Posted 13 January Another loan to buy. This is not our first rodeo. Is this his last year or is he under contract for another season after this one?

Prior to that, from his debut away at Spurs where we were hammered, our form drastically picked up and up to the break for the World Cup, Faes genuinely looked impressive. From then on, he has not bar the odd game. 2
Levi Port Posted 13 January Posted 13 January Better than nothing but they won’t take up the option. We have more to play with for a 6 month loan at least, let’s see

Always felt the break for the World Cup played a part in us getting relegated, after a terrible start we'd actually found some form leading up to it. 8 games before it we'd won 5, draw 1 and lost 2 and dragged are ourselves 13th.
MPH Posted 13 January Posted 13 January Can we just pipe down everyone….Hilde might make him stay just to spite us…
HoustonFox Posted 13 January Posted 13 January He was a liability for us but I don’t think he was ever a player whose style was suited to the English leagues. Yeah, he was good under Maresca but we were so dominant and well coached (for most of) that season, it was hard not to look good (Vestergard?!). Faes is an aggressive and reactive defender and th slower pace of Europe will suit him better. Loro at Man U is same (and younger of course) but still has time to grow. We needed ready made and someone to fit. He’s not in the Belgian team for nothing. We overpaid, didn’t need him and he didn’t fit. He clearly didn’t want to be here for the last 18 months either. Best for all to move on. Recurring theme for most of our recruitment… 1
Foxes96 Posted 13 January Posted 13 January Confirmed on the OS https://www.asmonaco.com/en/wout-faes-is-rouge-blanc/
cambridgefox Posted 13 January Posted 13 January I’m not getting too excited,it’s like the local delinquent getting 12 months ,only to see his smug face strutting around the place in 6 ,up to his old tricks as if he owns the place, upsetting the locals.Thinking he owns the place.
