Ric Flair Posted 24 June 2025 Posted 24 June 2025 They wanted him last summer but seemingly felt £20m was too much for them at that point.
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 24 June 2025 Posted 24 June 2025 I’d say £30-35m is about right. Sad to see him go but can understand the interest and his desire to play at top level 2
StanSP Posted 24 June 2025 Posted 24 June 2025 Could have got him last summer now have to pay more to have him this summer. Would expect £30m as a minimum.
DezFox Posted 24 June 2025 Posted 24 June 2025 Sad to see him go, we have to think about his importance to us, how much we purchased him for, age, and how long left on his contract. when you consider all of this, he is realistcally a 30 mill player but given our situation and when you consider the above we should be asking for 35+. Especially if you consider the money they have just got and what other teams would manage to do. Obviously this is if there is no release clause.
VLC86 Posted 24 June 2025 Posted 24 June 2025 £22m seems pretty low, probably recognition of the fact we really need to sell.
Popular Post Qwerty Posted 24 June 2025 Popular Post Posted 24 June 2025 He’s an idiot if he goes. If he stayed with us for another season and played well, he’d be back in the PL after that, because someone would buy him. He’s only 20. And he’s not THAT good. A season in the championship is just what he needs. 14
Manc_Fox Posted 24 June 2025 Posted 24 June 2025 That's his release clause if we got relegated. Not going to be a big money maker this one.

Has it been reported by a solid source that he definitely has this low release clause? Im not, question your logic, just curious if it’s actually a massive slip up by KP.

Popular Post Jon the Hat Posted 25 June 2025 Popular Post Posted 25 June 2025 This is the sort of thing that happens when you get relegated unfortunately. Had we refused to put a reasonable clause in his contract he would not have signed. 6
TommyK Posted 25 June 2025 Posted 25 June 2025 Personal I think this guy's has the skill to get to the very top. Whether he applys it, works hard and gets there is another matter. Mahrez took a season or so to settle before we saw the best of him. I think it could be the same for Elly.

I’m up for him leaving if it means I never again have to read someone call him Elly. 12
Finnegan Posted 25 June 2025 Posted 25 June 2025 Unless he has any sort of release fee, I'd definitely be demanding a little bit more owing to the fact they've just made record amounts in sales.
Fox92 Posted 25 June 2025 Posted 25 June 2025 People bringing up his stats say that no top club would be interested in him so this can't be right.
Guest Lako42 Posted 25 June 2025 Posted 25 June 2025 If it frees up the money to bring Asmir Begovic in then I'm obviously all for it.
filbertway Posted 25 June 2025 Posted 25 June 2025 Can't see it myself. I don't think he's worth to them what we would demand. 1
Dusty Posted 25 June 2025 Posted 25 June 2025 I think we’d do well to get our money back on him tbh. He had an average season and we’re not in a strong position at the negotiating table so I think £20m would be pretty good business.

It would be profit of around £7m on his book value, which stands at around £15m. But importantly a sale also frees up £5m in amortisation costs for each of the next 3 years. Not to mention his wages, which (while none of us will know for sure) are likely to be at least £2m-£3m per season. In an ideal world we'd get more for him but I'd be ok with him going for £22m considering how screwed we are financially. Edited 25 June 2025 by 87fox
