I agree with this, but we're kicking the can down the road. 


If we by some miracle don't get a points deduction, we should walk this league with the squad we have at our disposal. It's about whether or not the new manager can kick some professionalism into them which was so clearly absent for 30 odd games last year.

More like buy badly, buy once since we can't shift them. In football, the phrase is the other way around because if you've bought well, another team will want that player so you're buying another player to replace them.

Also, if we need to buy to sell, it's another damming indictment of the club that it's July 10th and we've managed to shift a grand total of zero players. Southampton have shifted 3 players for fees (£25M) and Ipswich have sold Delap for £30M.

Trouble is you need willing buyers.  It is absolutely no surprise to me that we have not had any interest in any of them.  

 

If I was a supporter of a lower prem team, I wouldnt want any of them either.  Not one.

We need a striker, and to replace any "important" player that leaves, but apart from that we're really not a million miles off. Need to trim the squad if anything in order to open up slots for Monga, Evans, Page et al.

Wholeheartedly disagree. That isn't a thing this time, especially if we focus on nurturing the youth talent which is the right thing to do. Playoffs would be a good result for us, with a view that as the young players mature and improve they become much more of a force then next 2 seasons,

If we had £20m in from selling Krisitansen for £8m, Faes for £6m and Soumare for £6m or an other combination of want away crap we'd not then stuck with a £10k p/w wage budget for managers. Not that I think Cifuentes is particularly a bad choice but we've hamstrung ourselves because we've not done things in the right order.

 

It sounds simplistic but I just think Top and Rudkin have no idea what 'ok' never mind 'good' looks like at DoF level - we could afford to sign the shit we do if we recouped some of the money we spent on it. We never do.

 

Tom Cannon is the only player we didn't want to keep we've sold for more than £5m since Musa in 2018! 7 years of letting players leave for nothing! 7!

We'll see! The championship was absolutely pony last year, as were the other two that got relegated.

We'll be lucky if Rudkin rustles up half of that lol

 

We'll probably just break even with their remaining amortisation and be glad they're off the wage bill.

Re. Faes, if he's good enough for Belgium he's good enough for someone at a higher level than us out there, regardless if none of us would put him in our children's u7s side. 

 

Kristiansen should attract someone and so should Daka. Soumare will probably just be one of those no one wants on a permanent.

Kristiansen played all season for a Bologna side that qualified for the CL, full Denmark international with 18 caps, still only 22, he'd have takers at the £7m bracket.

 

Faes has been linked with decent moves, again full Belgian international, reasonable with the ball at his feet, mobile, highly rated in France, again he'd have takers at a similar price.

 

Soumare has won the league in France, great frame, can progress the ball etc, he'd have takers at a similar  price.

 

 

WE know these players are shit but the PL is a different level to everywhere else in Europe, players still have their uses especially at the prices we'd sell them at now. Buying clubs have to know these players are for sale though and they have to be shopped around by their clubs and their agents. Given Rudkin doesn't even talk to managers at the club he's definitely not talking to players - so they probably want out but they're relying on their agent to do all the work and they don;t know what price they're available for particularly.

 

Good DoFs are out talking to agents, clubs and briefing the football media to drum up interest, Rudkin lacks the agency to do any of this so we're lumbered with players. It's not like our shit players are uniquely shit relative to the rest of everybody else's shit players, it's that we're uniquely bad at selling them. Some if it is because they're on relatively high wages but again that's Rudkin's fault.

Sorry if this has already been addressed, and Im probably just being daft, but if he's already left QPR, as was confirmed by QPR on their website on the 24th of June, why is there a need to pay compensation to QPR?

Perhaps, but then according to Iverson there was plenty of interest in him for two years but the club failed to move him on because of "carnage" and "so many people have to agree about a deal".

I think we could shift more players on than we do, but we are too unwilling to drop our price and we are so slow and inefficient at doing deals.

Obviously he doesn’t go into the fact he was already on gardening leave, he’s not just had his ears pricked by us and kicked off.

Then he speaks of loyalty of managers, doesn’t mention clubs mind, but either way a little check on managers currently holding positions in the championship and only 6 of the 24 clubs have had a manager longer than 3 no, 2 no just 1 year!

Of which 1 has come down from premier, 3 have come up from Lge 1, 1 from Lge 1 the previous year keeping his team in the championship & the 6th is Rohl who is in limbo, the remaining 18 clubs have had a manager less than 10 months…

 

There are very few managers that stick to 1 club or are given the opportunity to stick with 1 club, if I was MC I’d recover that 500k by suing this berk for defamation.
