Popular Post Samilktray Posted 6 August 2025 Popular Post Posted 6 August 2025 My fondest memory of Wilf will be standing next to him in Sainsbury’s, looking at yoghurts. We weren’t socialising, just buying yoghurt at the same time 40

StanSP Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 It's not the biggest fee we could have got but I suspect getting his wages off the books will be more beneficial for us. Good luck to him. Thought he could do better than Turkish league but so be it! 2
AjcW Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 Someones just had to send a message to wake up our social team haven't they 1 1
Swarles Barkley Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 Best of luck to him but the time has come. Faes/Vesty/Kristiansen/BDR next please 1
kingfox Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 I look forward to the club spending some of that transfer fee on our new striker, Patrick Bamford. 1 3
Ric Flair Posted 6 August 2025 Author Posted 6 August 2025 To be fair having translated the article it would appear Besiktas are just being polite and officially announcing they are in the final stages of negotiations to sign him 😂 4
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 (edited) It'll piss our lot off something rotten when Besiktas state the fee that they've paid us Edited 6 August 2025 by Sol thewall Bamba 1 1

Popular Post Dan Posted 6 August 2025 Popular Post Posted 6 August 2025 Good deal. Credit where due. He's been a very good player for us. Not quite Kante, and I'm not quite sure about legend, but he's been a big part of the last decade. Was excellent around 2018-2020 sort of time and rightly touted for a move to the top. Think it's quite a reflection of the way it's gone for a lot of our squad that he departs for Besiktas rather than Bayern. He's obviously dropped off and isn't what he was. I think we've continuously tried to make him something he isn't, constantly fiddled with his position when just keeping him as a ball winning destroyer was where his strength really lay all along. I don't think we've ever quite recovered from his initial drop off. We've never really come close, or even attempted to replace it. The likes of Skipp, Winks, Soumare etc... just simply haven't got anything like the defensive instincts he had in his first few years. He's been part of our drop off so I can't sit here and pretend it was all rosy from day one but he's been good on the whole - he's one of the few of this squad who goes with a blessing. Anyway not a terrible move, gets to play in Europe, the Istanbul clubs are relatively interesting if even not quite the top of the tree. 19
FosseSpark Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 we did the.equivalent of over bowling a gun fast bowler. he just had too many collisions and too much over extension to.make up for our luxury midfield. it did for Kante eventually when he wasnt too old and has done the same for Ndidi. Nearly £9m for him is similar to how Everton burgled us for Coady. 1

Popular Post CosbehFox Posted 6 August 2025 Popular Post Posted 6 August 2025 No qualms. Two sides to Wilf. I read the other day he hasnt been the same since he caught covid. That’s spot on really. The lad got fully stuck into life at LCFC, enrolled in an Uni degree here, lived in the city for a long time and he was part of the rollercoaster. He’s never really downed tools and departs with my respect. He wasn’t the same player as he was but can’t really criticise either contractual how we dealt with. Woukd love to know if anyone came knocking at his peak 22
BenTheFox Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 A good servent to the club and was an absolute beast when he was at his peak. 4 or 5 years ago he was a £50 million player. Not only has he not been able to reach those heights in the past few years but I think the way the premier league has gone has somewhat passed him by with many managers now favouring more technical number sixes to be more heavily involved in the build up. It's a shame. Hopefully he can go and be successful at Besiktas. All the best Wilf! 2
