that is a weakness in his game, it's a weakness in most young keepers mind, because it very much is something you develop as you gain experience. his reflexes and distribution will take him far assuming he gets over the injury he had last season.

Watching the highlights back it seems he was adamant that he was getting the ball for the 4th and 5th goals. Like he's been instructed to get his ass off the line. Doesn't seem to play to his strengths but maybe they have doubts over their CBs too.

Impeccable timing by me there.

If I say people are writing Patson Daka off too early, is that how this works?! :P

Mate, I think everyone connected to LCFC – from the board and coaching staff to fans – have already exhausted all other avenues trying to somehow improve Daka, so please give it a go.

Given they've just gone behind to Wolves, this is getting less and less surprising.

To be fair Mads isn’t playing tonight so they can’t pin the Wolves goal on him…

He is an okay keeper .... never going to be a great keeper .... would have done well in the championship... he looked good for us because the rest of the team were poor .. so he was the only player who stood out ... definitely not premiership at the moment

He might not get the opportunity. They've had stinker after stinker in goal and their fans won't have any patience for a slow start.

To be fair that Botafogo goalkeeper looks rubbish. Hermansen shouldn't have any problem coming out on top against him.

Maybe Areola ends up being their starting goalkeeper though.

oh stop it with the revisionism

He was great and we were all fawning over how he'd be a 40m+ sale to one of Europe's best

This is borderline pathetic by our lot on here acting like he's some Danny Ward who we're lucky to be rid of.

I dont think any reasonable person was saying that Hermansen was worth £40mil...

If we go up I’d snap there hands off to bring him back on a reduced fee

Prior to his injury he looked like he was going to be one of the best keepers in the league. Given the dearth of keepers that are good shot stoppers and can use their feet it’s pretty reasonable.

Trafford went for almost £30m on the back of a Championship season.

Before his injury maybe, even then he wasnt good at claiming crosses and corners like Trafford is

I assumed the quote i was replying to was referring to us selling him for £40mil this summer, which was entirely unrealistic given his loss of form and injury risk.

We did well to sell him given the circumstances.

No don’t think so. I think at his peak (Champ and PL pre-injury) it was looking like he’d go to a PL big 6 side for £40m+

I dont disagree (maybe £30mil was more realistic though). I was very much on the Hermansen bandwagon back in November before his injury.

My original comment was in reference to fans being disappointed with only getting £20mil this summer, which is in the context of his post-injury loss of form and risk of getting re injured. Given the situation we did well to get £20mil and I think only unreasonable people were finding issue with that deal at the time.

Edit: actually I think I misunderstood LFox99's comment in the first place, my bad

He was never going for 40m, that would have put him the top 5 most expensive GK of all time.

People forget GK transfers fees are different to outfield players.

How this has played out is hilarious.

West Ham doing a Forest and signing another goalkeeper would be priceless.

After using that bloke to get our price down as well… really is hilarious

No, he looked good for us because he’s made some great saves.

I feel sorry for Mads, I genuinely do. Always was a professional, never downed tools.

Now he's moved to a new city, a new club, with 1 (!) game, pre season at that, under his belt since April, plays two games and has a stinker in his 2nd game. Shortly after that, the club publically shames him by refreshing their interest in the bloke they were initially going to get over Hermansen.

The man is about to be a father as well. I don't envy the pressure that must be on him right now.

I still think Mads will be a great goalkeeper at PL level at some point. He was very good for us pre-injury.

He may not have made the best start, but id still back him to get there in time. He just has too many great attributes not to.

The only reason I wasn’t gutted to lose him is that I rate Jakob pretty highly as well
