Bit of a weird move anyway, Leicester to West Ham isnt a big step up apart from them being in the Premier League.

Smacks of we were desperate to sell and West Ham were the only club interested.

I loved him in the short lived Maresca era.

Not sure about the best GK in the Championship. He has made quite a few howlers already and to be honest I never feel confident that he hasn't got one in him every game we play. He has made some decent stops though to be fair. Good keeper but certainly not the best fir me.

Who is better?

As good as he was, for £20m, we can now most likely purchase a decent goalscorer.

Hopefully this means Bilal can stay

Good luck Mads, very decent keeper but probably one area where we have a more than adequate replacement which means we can us the money to hopefully strengthen other areas of the squad.

Remember, it's always worse that you expect it to be.

Tbf I think most keepers make a mistake when they have to deal with as much as we do.

but I do agree he’s not the current best, but it’s also his first real full season,

This is why it would help for the club to come out and be honest about how big a hole the club is in. If we knew that we wouldn't have to hope for things we can't have and might be realistic about what's achievable and timescales

In an awful side that don’t play a style of play suited to his strengths. He’ll go to a European possession based side and smash it and get a huge move one day.

Had a rough start, but still think he’s better than Areola.

I think bad timing was a factor too.

Wife heavily pregnant, move down to London, have a string of horrific performances.... then baby arrives and you have all the joy and struggles of a first child on top of you going through a public crisis.

He'll be fine, actually think Nuno is managing him well (unsurprisingly) by not throwing him back in. He'll get a chance, Areola never plays a whole season!

Players only see Premier League and Championship. Could literally be Bournemouth or Brentford or Luton when they were in there. Players will always choose being there instead of down here.

Hardly would have been the right career choice to stick with us with what we have coming up anyway. At worst he gets flogged to a top division abroad and he can rebuild his career there.

Pretty incredible drop off by him. Thought he was a good shot stopped and what really stood out his how often he caught the ball rather than pushing away. Quality first year and in the Prem he saved many potential goals. expected him to kick on

Viktor Johansson is probably the best keeper in the league

No chance, what does Johansson have over Stolarczyk? Worse at claiming crosses, worse with his feet and worse at shot stopping.

if we had Johansson and Stolarczyk was playing for someone else we would all rate Stolarczyk higher. It's just that our fans love to rag on whoever our goalkeeper is at the time, including Schmeichel when he was here.

Johansson is definitely not worse at shot stopping

I am not saying Jakub is crap, I just think Johansson is the best currently, Jakub is certainly up there though, and like all keepers has some deficiencies to work on and luckily for him he is younger so has time on his side

Our fans also love to overhype our current players and rag on those that have left us

Mavididi was better than Barnes according to our fans lmao

I never saw this but anyone saying this needs help!

At least the Stolarcryk/Johansson one is down close and down to interpretation!

I think he was just an average goalkeeper that had a great season in the Championship which many keepers do.  As soon as we were promoted, his lack of physical presence really showed through, even more so since his move to West Ham.

We got a really good deal.

Yep as a keeper average, he is rated up by people who think keeper's main role is to pass the ball out the back rather than stopping goals.

I make it four ex-Leicester keepers in the Championship currently - Johansson, Iversen, Ward and Hamer.

He was outstanding for us when we had a great team playing Marescaball and his main job was to act as the deep lying pivot with the ball at his feet. Even then he kept his distribution usually short and on the floor. It was telling that Maresca didn’t come in for him when he moved to Chelsea. As a keeper Mad’s is vulnerable with corners and crosses in and around his 6 yard box and he isn’t as capable of long ball pinging as Pickford at Everton or Sanchez at Chelsea. With the fashion moving back to more direct football, he’s less suited to how teams now play.

I was convinced Enzo was going to snap him up at Chelsea.

Becoming quite apparent now why he didn't

Good keeper, yeah, but some wonder saves took the attention away from many he could / should have done better with.

It's not now apparent as to why Maresca didn't take him to Chelsea.  It's because when they initially inquired we reportedly wanted upwards of £35mill. They then brought in Jorgensen for half that and the following season he wasn't required.

Maresca wanted him but we wanted more than Chelsea would pay.
