Do you feel Kasey had a big future here? We have a lot of very good youngsters coming through. 
 

I feel torn on this. Met him at a signing and he was super friendly. Felt he had some good games under Enzo before his injury. I think he scored a belter against Ipswich last season. But, I just don’t feel we were going to get more out of him than we have already seen. Be interesting to see if Ipswich have a trick up their sleeve with him or they are panic buying. It’s quite a bit of cash. 
 

Kind of felt his energy would have suited what Marti wanted. But we can’t turn that sort of money down for someone low down the pecking order.

Think its good for everyone, hes not technically good enough and thats extremely good money for him.

 

I do however think he suits Mckennas style as he never stops running. If he is to succeed at this level somewhere I think it would be there.

Low wages probably plays a part in the speed of the negotiations. Ipswich can easily match / improve his current wage.

Just really unfortunate to be in a position where we have to sell a local kid. I flew in from the US to watch Vardy’s last game and I sat next to Kasey’s aunt who couldn’t stop talking about how much he loved the club and how excited she was at his performance in that match. She knew that meant so much to him.
 

I don’t think he’s a world beater but I do think he’s a great depth player with a great attitude. Something many others at this club are lacking. But I do have to say, I am a bit surprised at how quickly this all occurred. Not sure exactly what that says.

From a purely financial perspective it's a jackpot.

 

In terms of the team ethic however, it's depressing to say goodbye to one of the few players who gave 100% and still be stuck with the majority of the absolute arseholes we want to see gone.

Let’s be clear.

 

The real issue here isn’t the sale of Kasey McAteer. He’s an incredibly limited player who’s barely Championship quality. £12m is actually a bloody good deal. 

 

The issue is that we’re not signing anyone else. The money won’t be reinvested on better and we have a multitude of other wasters in the squad who are offering no more and costing us more.

Well that ends the debate over whether he can play 8, 9 or 10 for us.

 

I feel very conflicted. We clearly need the money- either to balance the books or to create a transfer pot. Selling our 4th choice winger with other players in and around the squad that can also play his position for over ten million seems like great business. But he was one of our own and I'd have rather seen other players depart.

Like many, I'm split. 

 

On the one hand it's a good piece of business and that's undeniable. 

 

On the other he's the type of player I would have wanted to keep. Someone with genuine affinity and love for the club and isn't just trousering a wage. He's also good in this league. We've sacrificed someone who cares to balance the books of Soumare, Winks, and Daka a little bit more. Harrowing.

Good deal all round. The lad needs playing time and only then will we see if he can harness the jedi power and prove us wrong.....or we hit the jackpot per say.

 

He has been a faithful servant of the club and I hope he does prove us wrong as I love to see our youth players succeed.
