We had 2 shots on target in 100 minutes of football lollol

I wouldn't even say our goal was 'quality in front of goal' it was just a piece of individual brilliance.

We were honking in front of goal, created absolutely nothing.

I didn't think we were honking in front of goal as we didn't really get there to be honking.

A better team would have caned us today.

Take the win but serious problems across the pitch to address.

We need investment. Which we aren't getting.

The team has needed good investment for years.

Tactically we are at our limit because of the players we have.

Looking at the bigger picture, today was a step in the right direction considering the state of our club, recent outgoings and changes to the squad. Jacob and the defence showed real commitment—they looked up for it and were willing to put their bodies on the line. Of course, there are always things you can pick apart, but overall they were excellent.

Soumaré had a solid game; he just needs someone alongside him who’s more forward-thinking and creative. Winks isn't the answer for me it is clear that he doesn’t want to be here. Page has a bright future but he needs proper managing and time he's not the answer yet. It is definitely an area we need to invest in. Monga got bullied at times but didn’t look fazed, which is a positive sign.

Hamza showed today that he can do a job at right-back at this level, which could give us the option to try Ricardo Pereira in midfield—something worth exploring.

Ayew has to play in the No. 10 role for the time being, and finding a proper striker is becoming more urgent by the game.

The biggest takeaway for me today is that we’re missing a bit of nastiness and aggression to compete in this league.  We lost too many 50/50s, and that edge is something we’ve got to find quickly if we want to compete.

Ayew needs binning. He’s a major issue and one of the main reasons we’re so poor in the transition. He holds onto the ball for too long, and gives it away far too often. We got away with it today because Charlton are shit, but on Friday we will get munched alive by Birmingham.

Not read the whole thread but haven't seen much about the disallowed Charlton 'goal'. Correct decision? Didn't sound like many complaints.

100%. Even taking lcfc bias out of it, Jones threw his marker to the floor. Blatant foul.

We don't have an alternative to Ayew at the moment - I agree that I'd love us to buy a better player but it's not going to happen so you have to find a way to make him affective which for me can only be as a 10.

blatant foul, rightfully disallowed  and i say that as a lcfc fan who can`t believe we took 3 points on that showing, worst first half i`ve ever seen, better in the second half but still created virtually nothing.

Any points we pick up in August is good, take them and run. However they come.

Absolutely...we need to dig in and try to get points behind us until..hopefully..some decent re enforcements can be bought to strengthen the squad

They were a horrible team to play against, super physical and really up for it and we got the win, whilst starting two 16 year olds and giving a debut to another academy player. It's not all bad.

I'd take results over performance at the moment, the kids are only going to get better from this experience and once the window is closed the side should be more settled.

You can only beat the team you're up against. I'll take it as an improvement if the next game is further improvement and so on.

Ayew does what Ayew does , hold up the ball, the real problem is nobody else in the side wants the ball off him, the wingers stand about like lemons on the wing , the midfield is non existent and Daka is about as much use in support as a chocolate walking stick. makes him look bad and he osn`t great in the first place.

They hadn't lost at home since early December, albeit in L1. They're clearly trading off being hard to beat and their football is full Brexit. So winning is good.

But we've played three League One teams and the physical embodiment of The Championship so far this season and haven't outclassed any of them. You can't say we'll be troubling the top 6 on the showings we've seen, the better teams will have enough to beat us. A few signings might change that.

So Monga is a lemon now?

Not in the game today and in terms of moving infield to support Ayews hold up play, yes today he was a lemon, overall i really rate him, but he has a lot to learn

They do want it off him but he doesn't release it and he thinks he can do it all on his own

Not what i saw today, no movement from the wingers, no support from the midfield, nobody else playing off him upfront, so yes he does hold on too the ball too long, but little choice except kicking halfway back up the pitch.
