I’ve had a few fans of other clubs comment that they’ve enjoyed hearing it pre match. I like that it’s unique to us. Along with the Post Horn Gallop it’s a nice nod to our long history.

Not a fan of the Jersey Budd version myself but as we seem physically incapable of adopting the right pace for the Louis Armstrong version it will have to do.

That’s because we’re the only fanbase whose club’s song is When You’re Smiling to be fair

How many football songs in general are actually good? Most chants are monotone ****ing nursery rhymes.

You'll never walk alone is considered the best and that's a dreary piece of shit

MOT is boring as **** especially the bit that just goes "Leeds, Leeds, Leeds".

Difference is other people sing their songs with bollocks so it sounds good. Ours is mumbled so destined to sound underwhelming.

No one can say it wasn't good against Roma or Everton when we got relegated or at PSV away, again because people actually belted it.

I like it, and there have been a few times we've belted it out and it's really felt special. There have been a few times we've been a bit lame and we've been drowned out by the opposition. Jersey Budd version just fine for me as well as its easy to sing along too.

But it's ours and its different. I'm just thankful we aren't yet another club that decides Hey Jude it our anthem.

Typical for us to self harm and dislike it.

I love it. Should be sung more at away matches as well. The jersey budd version isn’t great because it almost sounds too modern compared to some of the other clubs anthems but it’s still much better to have it than not.

I like the song, especially with the jazz hands, but the JB version is very 'Welcome to Wrexham', too cod-Oasis...

I remember researching versions of this song in the early 90s, as the lads from Blab Happy were trying to get it reinstated on the pre-match playlist. Best of a bad bunch we could find was a Billie Holiday version. Always thought Tom Meighan or Kasabian would be all over this, but obvs not. Maybe Engelbert will do the honours.

Colín Murray’s Great Football Song Book on BBC radio featured this a few months ago which was a cracking listen. Struggling to find a working link atm, but will keep trying.

Pat Nevin said it was one of the best football anthems that he's ever heard.

Maybe we need something more connected to the city, I mean is there any famous songs from Engelbert that could be incorporated into to a Leicester song.

No to this. Songs connected to the city? We're not Dublin or New York. Most clubs songs aren't about their city, they're just unique to them. WYS is unique to Leicester. As much as I'd love the 90s back with 1000 people doing jazz hands at the end, the naff Jersey Budd version does at least get people together.

Unless someone can get Lesbian Seagull into an anthem 😁

We used to chant Albert Tatlock Ena Sharples for ages in the 80s so be grateful

Ah, yesterday's Vestergaard and Faes.

I remember them well. lol

It began in the 60s when some blokes used to sing it in a pub before the game, and then started to sing it in the ground. I think I read that in the 5000-1 book from 2016.

The 3 Cranes on Humberstone gate was famed for its singing. I believe it originated sung by the locals, one of whom was Tom Meighan's Dad.

Actually like the Jersey Budd version and think playing it when we do has made it work - it's better at home now than away. It isn't great away, just sung far too quickly.

I can think of a few times recently this Engelbert classic could have been sung.

Yeah I think it's one of the very few decent things about our home game experience.

It's slowly turning into a You'll Never Walk Alone situation where the chant version is quite shit but the fans singing it just before the match at the right tempo with the music is really quite special.

Only Leicester fans would slate it. I swear as a group we're never content.
