People have to be offended by something now days.

To be fair, i suspect some people calling it out aint that bothered, but they know calling it out will get them some 'thumbs up' reactions.

Exactly. We'd all be absolutely fine with your relatives\friends\colleagues being threatened with being killed.

It certainly got their attention which means that the chants have actually have done more harm than good if people wanted him to leave. The club will double down on him further now to make a point.

It's football away ends. I don't think you can take what's sang in any game as literal. All sorts of nonsense gets sang all the time at most games.

I find it a bit bizarre that the club have put out a statement.

He will never leave.

I’m not seeing much of a mention of the “sell the club and **** off home” chants which allegedly were sang yesterday. I suspect the clubs statement is also aimed at this one.

I agree it’s time for them to sell up but the second part, in the context of the current political climate, could be perceived as racist and they are right to call it out.

I obviously get the irony in not hearing anything from the club on the relegation etc and release this though.

I believe the only irony in that chant is he “****ed off home” the same day he appointed himself acting CEO and hasn’t been seen since….

Same. Saying nothing would have been better than this statement. The alleged chants sound vile, so don't give them oxygen. If this is the only thing they respond to after almost constant silence, what message does this statement send?

If you understand the context of the chant then it’s no way got any racist motivations at all.

The song gets sung at almost every ground week in week out.

You’ve seen the Villa, now **** off home

You’ve seen United, now **** off home

You’ve seen the Leeds, now **** off home…

Unless you’re also saying they are racist too? Then it’s a daft point really.

Maybe, but you know what some of the people signing that mean.

Heard the Rudkin death chant several times in the concourse pre match & HT.  Sung by about 20-30 lads together with the usual Rudkin is a C@#t + standard song book.  Clearly the death one stepped over the mark & has drawn all the attention.   There was also a chant after Norwich goal re: "sell the club & Fck off home" which again crosses the line.

Although the chants are unacceptable & should be called out so should the mismanagement of LCFC over the past years   The club hierarchy can't suddenly communicate with fans on the inappropriate chants and stay mute about their incompetence or lack of strategy, direction or vision on and off the pitch.

Chants were bang out of order. Club have caused offence in their response though with the continued lack of awareness / tunnel vision to include the following quote:-

“The people who represent Leicester City work with dedication and integrity every day, and with the Club’s best interests at heart. “

If I’d made errors at work for several years costing the organisation so many problems, lost so much money on unsuitable assets and repeatedly made the same mistakes over and over again I’d have the integrity to recognise that, accept that and putting their best interests at heart walk away so that I don’t steer them into even choppier waters.

The way that statement is worded is about as big an admission of the club's wrongdoing as you'll get, when you read between the lines. The tone of it is completely different to what they'd normally put out, even on this kind of subject matter; it's almost slightly apologetic.

What’s your evidence for it being in a different context?

At the end of the day general football fans, tend to blindly follow the songs being sung by other clubs. There’s not a great deal of thought or nuance that goes into them. Even the one about Rudkin is just an exact copy of what Man Utd sing.

Let’s not go looking from problems that are not there, unless you can share something else I’m missing?

Probably best to agree to disagree.
