I turned 70 a couple of weeks ago but I certainly don't feel it. I'm pretty fit physically and mentally although it takes me longer to recover from any exertion, ( I still take part in weekly 5 a side games) but in my mind I'm still about 25.

Fortunately I don't have any health concerns and I seem to have inherited my dad's longevity. He lived to 91.

It's weird because I feel like I should be decrepit, but I suppose that's because, during my working life, I met so many that were decrepit and ill at my age. Obviously I never came across those that were generally fit and well.

I don't know how to age, if that makes sense. I feel like I should feel as old as I am but I don't.

Don't get me wrong, I like being well and relatively fit but, in my head I still can't get past being the 25 year old me .

I think that it's true of anyone, but to different degrees. I'm in my late 50s now, but I still listen to new music (albeit not much chart music, but then I was always an indie kid since I turned 20).

I drive slower, but not slowly, cos I have seen what speed can do (and indeed recently be the victim of an impatient road user).

I eat and drink differently from my teens and twenties, and things I liked to do (surfing, swimming (it's dawned on me that my injury will make swimming next to impossible), playing football at pace, other sports) I no longer can.

Aside from that, much the same as mid-20s.

I'm put in mind of the Katie Melua song where she sings, "this is the closest thing to crazy I have ever been, feeling 22, acting 17."

Wow! I mean, is there much difference? Wait til you get to 50, you might have stopped counting Chinese bicycles and realised you woefully underestimated, you curly haired bint!

Im 44 but naurally fit  from running and working as a chef is constantly on the move for 60hrs + a week. So feel fit and young then. But when i get a couple of days off i really feel my aches and pains. I probably moan and groan a lot moe than people my age. So in that regard i feel older. Just do the best i can really

Today yes.  48 and tired after a hectic year, and looking forward to a couple of weeks off in the sunshine.  I need to stop eating crisps, drink less wine and exercise more.  Mostly though I need rest.

Actually my birthday today and i still feel and act like im in my 20's and not my 50's. Sadly thats just in my mind though, starting to ache a hella lot more nowadays.

In the last 2 years have reduced and now ditched nicotine (still vape but zero nicotine) love the fact i'm not half dead now, gasping for breath when i run up the stairs. And today i'm 2 months 2 weeks and 3 days sober, been many a decade i've been this long without a drink.

New year plan is to eat a lot more healthier and get in more fitness, which i've really slacked with since covid.

Happy birthday! Annnnnnnnd best of luck!

Heh, I've started getting youngsters giving up their seat for me on the Tube - I often retort with "I may look old, thanks, but I'm still a teenager inside me" Mind you it's over 6 months since I got the tube..

Exercise? I try and do plenty of walking. But running or 5-a-side football are no longer realistic thanks to various leg issues.

Diet? I try and eat one healthy cooked meal a day (generally meat + 2 veg, sometimes soup/stew). My appetite went down for some months after I had a bout of covid, but I'm eating more now. A weakness for unhealthy stuff like chocolate and lattes, but nevermind.

Drink? Yes please, but my appetite/tolerance is very low. Extremely rare to have more than 2 drinks a day, and I'm dry several days in the week. I have a very early start and doubt I could make it if I drank the night before.

Things that have changed over the years - earlier bedtime and a need to get 7 hours minimum. I don't buy music anymore, but I understand young folk don't either. Not so keen on meet-ups or parties - prefer the local old man's pub, or perhaps have a couple of friends around for cheese and wine. Oh, wine/port are staple drinks, never used to be. Rarely bother with television, although when wifey wants to watch a film or series on netflix or IPlayer I'll see some of it.

biggest change is I realise that I've wasted big chances in life, and not always appreciated what I had. I can't change the past, but where possible I try and help out those who are struggling and/or need a bit of hope. It's a tough life out there for many, let's spread a bit of goodwill (again if you're in a position to do so).

Physically I feel my age maybe even a little older lol 31 now, but in terms mentally and mind I still feel like early 20's. I do have aspergers and some say your mentality can be a few years behind with that condition, like when 15 your mental age is 10 for example. As you can imagine a secondary school was a nightmare for me.

That explains all those polls from years ago! :)

Not mentally. I still feel like I've just graduated secondary school. Physically I think I look younger than I am and (humblebrag alert) I was still getting asked for ID in shops until about 3-4 years ago. But having a baby this year has me feeling my age more.

I am a similar vintage to you but don't feel anything like 25 - enjoy it while you can.  I've had heart issues (minor) for the last 30 years and was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 which tends to focus the mind away from thoughts of youth, but the main reason that I don't feel young is that I've learned to use a mirror.

57 and I don’t but I do.

I love a pair of trainers and I’m not dressing from M&S yet. I go to a lot of varied events, Rammstein to the Proms, if anyone suggests going to anything I’m up for it. I’m pretty much willing to give anything a try.

I can’t eat a curry or anything spicy at night without waking up with acid reflux. I drink in moderation as the recovery time is a lot longer. Every time I get indigestion I’m thinking is it a heart attack.

I get nigglings  aches and pains daily, I can stand for gigs but I prefer to sit as after three hours of standing getting moving again is an effort. I can’t do back to back nights out, and unless it’s local if it involves getting home after midnight I’m taking the next day off work.

Mentally I’m about 20 but my body is starting to feel 57.

I’m going to continue to rage against the dying of the light as long as I can.

In my mid-60s.  I’ve lost strength and flexibility, but feel good and can still walk up and down hills on hiking trips. My only exercise is plenty of walking.  I bought a standing desk several years ago, and live within a mile of the bank, grocery, drug and Target stores -- never have to drive for routine errands.

Honestly I’m blessed and if I just had the sense to lose 10 pounds and do minor weight training I’d feel that much better.  (But it’s Xmas and I seem to be indulging myself to the max)

The crazy bit is, my doc thinks I’m sailing along.  I guess the majority of Americans my age are completely unfit, many developing serious issues.  Just reading this thread, it’s so obvious how important activity is at all ages, but especially as you get older.  Use it or lose it -- and past 60, once lost, it’s gone.

I've lost strength and some mobility due to issues with my lumbar spine after years of lifting fat old (and young) people down their stairs and into and out of the ambulances before the days of ramps and lifting equipment that is around now.

It takes me about 48hrs to get full mobility back after being in goal at 5 a side for an hour. I don't dive around anymore  but the physical activity takes it's toll.

In my head I'm still the goalkeeper I was back in my 20's. Now, if I drop to the floor to make a save, it takes a a while to get back up and I sometimes have to use the frame of the goal as a support. lol

Just turned 57 and i'm sort of looking at the end more than the start suddenly! Still feel young and twat about with my kids (12 and 14).We moved to the coast so go for walking on the beach with the dog and a lot of fishing! But no i reckon if i could have lived my life again i'd have sooner got to here earlier(i hated my job....getting up at 5.30 every morning for a shift in a factory.)But in a nutshell ........retire early if you have the means......i know this doesn't really answer the question but i'm getting better at not feeling my age with moving and having different things to do!

I'm 36 and quite honestly feel ****ed. Thought I was invincible in my teens and twenties and now feel like I'm paying the price. There's definitely positive changes I could and should make but I just feel exhausted and in pain most of the time. Hide it well from my loved ones though somehow
