Conceding on average 2 goals a game isn't a mid table Championship squad, it's rock bottom of the league. This squad is poor but there's no way we should be conceding 2 goals a game and creating about 0.2xG every game. Marti still had to go, we were looking more and more likely to go down under him with each passing game.

Cooper was miles better than RVN. We were still atrocious but we fought and scored goals. Under Ruud we dropped like a stone and offered no resistance to the inevitable.

It's a shame it never worked out with Marti. He made so many of the right noises at the start of the season about the club and about how he wanted to play.

 

But he did have to go. There wasn't a single game where we put together a proper, coherent performance. And in most games, even the ones we won, we were not the better side.

 

I'll thank him for the six points over Derby, though and wish him all the best.

He was always good at saying the right things. I just saw very little of putting those words into actions. 
 

I didn’t think he was the right guy, but didn’t think he would be this bad either. 
 

I expect him to end up abroad in lower divisions. Nice guy but just a MEH manager.

Dealt a mixed hand and played it badly.

 

Very little doubt in my mind the club lied and f ucked him about though, so I have a tiny bit of sympathy. Post-Cooper I just find it difficult to be worked up by managers anymore. It's like being annoyed at the waiter because there's a hair in your soup; whilst Chewbacca is in the kitchen.
