Battling point. At times thought we could have won.. 

 

Vast improvement in our resilience and fight. 

 

Skipp and Winks superb I thought. Especially defensively and the ground they covered.

It was ugly and unconvincing, but I’ll take it.
I think the effort was there and it’s a good point
Better defensively than we have been
And we outlasted Middlesborough and ended the game the better

 

However, for the majority we defended as 2 banks of 4 and although we had bodies there, but I wasn’t convinced with them and think it was Middlesborough weakness rather than our strength that got us a point
I think Middlesborough passed style suits us as they tried to keep it. We can’t defend and Rowetts style is let them have space out wide. Middlesborough tried to play through us and we dealt with it well, but in this league most teams will play crosses into the box from deep which we struggle to handle

 

Great to see Fatawu back and if we can get him in the team then he always gives is good attacking options
But the other subs, Ayew and Aribo on for Daka and Mavididi ended any hopes we had of winning… we were then set-up just to defend and we had to rely on a Begovic double save

 

It appears Rowett is going to use less subs, he has picked the players and formation that he will use and he’ll stick with it – if we gel and improve then there is hope, but if like RVN era where we just played the same poor side repeatedly and hope for the best then it is going to be tough

If we had Rowett in after the Sheffield Utd embarrassment or QPR away I truly believe we wouldn’t even be thinking about relegation.
