I asked in his comments and he said Blackburn were interested but we are ‘way down the line’ for him

It’s interesting that none of the more reliable journalists on us have bothered to pick this up yet. It doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but I suspect it’s not as close as Nixon suggests.

Please tell me there’s another manager we’re interested in who’s name is Martin and it’s not that arrogant twat.

I'd take Steve Martin over Russel.

Let’s all be real here none of our opinions matter so whoever the dimwits decide then that will be it! I’d rather Fuchs over Martin any day of the week!!

I'm very confused, are you saying that you asked Nixon (in his Comments section?) about Martin .... or Challinor? The reply you got (from Nixon?) is Blackburn were interested (in Martin or Challinor?) and we are way down the line for him (Martin or Challinor?). As far as I'm aware, Blackburn have never expressed any interest in Martin .... but they have in Challinor and we have never expressed any interest in Challinor!! Who are you talking about?!

Martin mate, it was at the end of one his articles that Blackburn were interested in Martin and his Sunday story with regards to us was that he was pretty much through the door- his exact words are ‘Blackburn having Martin on their list but Leicester being well down the line for him’. Would add I didn’t ask specifically about Martin just what the Leicester story was and that was his response

Russell Martin is the most ridiculous appointment we could make. The bloke has a pretty appalling record and the fans will be on his back from the first time someone passes it sideways. He would be sacked before Xmas.

Thank you - that's actually both helpful and welcome (the bit about us being 'well down the line for Martin').

I often wonder who drives the recruitment for a new manager. Does Top say to Rudders, these are the only managers I'll consider or does Rudders come up with a list which he takes to Top, who rejects them all and the process starts again. How do ordinary Leicester fans see who would be a decent appointment, yet it's likely to be someone driven by Top's idea on how he thinks the game should be played?

Suggests he believes we are close to someone, Martin is one of a shortlist but nixon doesn't know who for sure.

I personally think we are desperate for him, but I am not sure he will take it.

Hes the only name ive been given as being approached about the job, im sure there are a few but hes definitely near the top of our list.

Lets hope he says no thanks

Not sure what's wrong with me. I previously hated the thought of RM being our manager, but I think given the sh*te appointments over the past 2 years the board have weirdly got me thinking it wouldn't be the worst appointment in the world.

Totally get the sideways and backwards concerns, but at least he has a style of football/philosophy unlike all of the useless managers we've had since Enzo left. He does know how to coach a team even if he's a stubborn idealistic tw*t, so I'd have him over Gerrard, Rooney, etc. any day of the week. Will also do my head in listening to his BR inspired soundbites.

It's not an endorsement, but we could do a lot worse in my opinion especially with dumb and dumber making the decision.

Definitely ahead of Darren Ferguson
