I’m waiting for Martin Keown to be revealed as head coach and then storming out of the interview when no one remembers he used to play for us.

Playing possession football is fair enough but you’ve got to have the players to play it otherwise it’s like asking a bunch of one legged people to be ballet dancers. Sure, they’ll give it a go, but it won’t be pretty..

The club must be mad as a box of frogs. Totally stuck on this idle possession until we give the ball away and concede idea.

This the most concise (at the same time accurate and damning) description of possession football I have seen. :appl:

You’re right there and we didn’t have the players who could play that way. How many times did we try, gave the ball away and conceded a goal? It was painful to watch yet we still persevered with it week in week out. I reckon they thought they were Barcelona.
Just been watching the Lge1 play off semi finals - quick decisive football played with energy and determination.  We’re going to need to match that and if we continue with tippy tappy football we’re going to come unstuck.
For my money Challinor is the man to build what we need not only to survive but to challenge for a top spot.

It’s going to be posturing isn’t it, feels like more than a coincidence that this comes out hours after our supposed interest in the fish bloke. Think it’ll be regarding the terms of his contract etc

It'll just be to get more money out of us. Will work as well.

No chance, it'll be agent talk to get us to pay him a bit more/make a decision.

Burnley are well above Russell Martin.

Championship? Active in transfer market? Chance to be back in the Premier League after just one season?

Burnley would be much better for RM's ego.  He should go there.  It's a no-brainer.

There’s always someone that shits on that little glimmer of hope isn’t there 😂

We'll have gone in with a hefty offer, dragged our feet just because we're sclerotic anyway, wisely Martin and his agent have smelt blood. Drag it out longer and we get more desperate and make him the highest paid manager in L1 history by quite some margin. He gets a bumper pay out just after an international break (obviously) next year.

If Burnley genuinely go for him, then surely from Martins point it’s a no brainer.

We’ll probably pay more.

Given the choice between a league 1 side and a championship side there’s no contest if it’s down to Martin’s ego.
I hope he’s extremely happy at Burnley.
Let him fvck off there the arrogant *****.
