Probably the first of many extremely promising youngsters to leave. For much cheaper than anticipated, therefore losing out on vital income and not making best use of Seagrave...

Until they change the rules, this will continue to happen to us and every single other club lower down the pyramid. It's not unique to us.

Been happening for decades and throughout the pyramid. People don't moan when we're doing it to smaller clubs than us.

I not sure we are tbh. We haven't actually got any good players, let alone ones that have been stolen! One of the long list of things our elite football department is shit at.

Yeah maybe not right now, I just meant over time etc.

We missed our opportunity this summer to prove to our academy players that their future best lay with us. A decade of hard work at risk of being carved apart  and we've gone down anyway favouring experienced players 😥

And making Seagrave a complete waste of time.

I wasn't anti-Seagrave but we have seen absolutely zero benefit so far.

No but it is particularly embarrassing when you build facilities that probably rank in the top 10 in the world to deliberately focus on improving talent and you keep hemorrhaging youngsters that have no interest in staying.

The model should almost have been Brighton like, decent league finishes to attract and retain players long enough to ramp up the value but instead of finding gems from random teams, the gems come from our own academy.

like some random bloke on twitter knows what a 15 year old is going to do! its so weird people make these things up, happened with Monga last summer

There have been inputs on this forum from people who know bits and pieces

the Monga stuff is now irrelevant- he’ll surely leave this summer cos we can no longer meet the terms of our agreement when he reaches 17

I can’t remember the last time someone actually had true information on this forum, just seems to be a load of people (or the same sad bloke with many accounts?) making up shit

And instead of trusting in our talented youngster Louis Page, we loaned in the experienced 18 year old from Man City instead.

If I was a youth player and bigger clubs were sniffing around I'd move on too.

If I’m Motsi. I’m looking at our treatment of Monga, Page and Aluko this year and deciding I’m better off being like Nyoni at Liverpool.

Doesn't even need to look at this year, just the way we treat young players in general. This year has just further reinforced how bad we are

Yep Nyoni in 3yrs at Liverpool has played the equivalent of 7 90s, there’s no chance they will play that much here in the next 3yr….

Ooh wait Monga is pushing the equivalent of 10 90s & Page 5 already this season & potentially starters for every game in Lge 1 game with senior clear out expected. 🤨

Minutes at Liverpool are more important for a player's development than minutes with us.

If a young player struggles to get minutes with us then that's his career trajectory scuffed, if he struggles to get minutes at a Europe level Prem club they can still get a good loan to the championship or move to a European club.

Shall we put some context in there? Nyoni is playing for Liverpool, the PL champions. They could let go of players like Harvey Elliott (who I know hasn't played much for Aston Villa but that's because of the terms of his loan). Yet he's still played 13 times at 18.

Monga's playing for a team that has been relegated to L1, where we have 2 other wise players in the squad, one of whom has been beyond pathetic yet only managed 10 full 90's? Page has twice been dropped for rotten senior pros, particularly this time round when Harry ******* Winks game back in for him and he doesn't even make the matchday squad despite standing out. What about Aluko? Again, the full backs (actually whole defence has been honking) and he's barely played?

Nyoni probably earning loads more money and is basically guaranteed a championship loan at worst, where he will play a lot more than these guys have done. And if it doesn't work out for him at Liverpool, he'll again almost certainly be picked up by a by a championship club at least.

This year should have been the year that Monga and Aluko played a lot (Page pushed himself into the reckoning ahead of schedule), yet they've barely featured. There was a very public mandate that we'd be playing the young players yet it hasn't happened. Motsi and others will look at that and happily go 2 steps up. Plus you hear the stories of people like Shane Flynn and you understand that there is no respect for these young players.

Frankly, you'd have to be thick to not want to go to one of the big boys in favour of maybe getting some game time at a League 1 side in total decline.

Took me longer to post it but typed the same thing at the same time as you. Failure at a big club is better than moderate success at a lower league club. Depressing as that is, it's true.
