Rob Dorsett saying he hasn't called Trent up to replace him because he doesn't want a 'big star' sitting on the bench?! adding pressure to the squad?! what a load of BS!

could have even called cover up in for Saka if he isnt fit?!

Seems like he has his start 11 and doesnt want to apply any pressure to them by calling up different options.

is that Dorsett speculating, or what Tuchel has actually said?

Dorsett speculating - basically creating a story that isn't there. My issue on this point is with the England press not TT.

I would however have selected a direct replacement rather than another CB

Crazy if he picks Chalobah as the replacement.

It will mean we're going into the tournament with 0 natural left backs and 2 right backs (one being injury prone).

Just pick Hall or Shaw, surely? I feel like Tuchel is too worried about "he can cover here" or "he's played there before" and not about where these players natural positions are.

Exactly to worried about 'other' positions yet he's got him in to replace a RB & he's played once at RB this season & we are now just an injury away from making the full back positions the weakest positions.

We are stacked with CBs it should just have been O'Reilly & Hall (better than Spence & Shaw) as LB, Reece & Trent AA RB from the start for me

Micah Richards summed it up pretty well on Friday. Whilst he doesn't agree with it himself, Tuchel wants players who are not upset with being on the bench. The "big stars" may not accept that and cause the team dynamic to fall apart. He wants a squad of players who work well as a team and it isn't going to be a massive thing either in camp or out of it if they are benched.

Wants a squad on team players, not solo ego's and big stars. Could work well, could bite us all in arse.

I have a feeling that Ghana are going to implode this tournament and it will be quite funny to witness. Maybe it's just my bitterness knowing Ayew and Fatawu are both there, but I will get a certain amount of schadenfreude out of it.

Shouldn't even feel that way about Abdul either, but he's been appalling for six months now so I'm done with goodwill. Between those two being there after the season they've just shat out, and the Thomas Partey debacle, there isn't a single team I'd be happier to see fail.

There is clearly a trend towards backup players being versatile and physically strong/tall. Chalobah can also play RB. I wouldn’t even take Trent if Chalobah were unavailable tbh, probably would go Lewis Hall.

Picking a squad of giants in a knockout competition where set pieces will be key is not a silly strategy imo.

You do fear lose to Croatia, the negativity from back home will creep in very quickly going into the second game. Lets hope we get that win, don't care if its a scrappy 1-0 win.

It'll be what it'll be.

I mean the minute his squad went out it's pretty much a case of ok mate, you've either seen something I haven't seen or you're a complete idiot. I know that sounds like black and white thinking but I don't have much else to be honest, the next month will determine which one is true.

It's a results based business. So let's see what he manages, not like we have any choice to do anything else.
