The ever reliable Ben Jacobs... says Neil Lennon and Rob Edwards could be on the shortlist...

:nigel:

Lennon is poor. Edwards did ok once a bit like Martin.

No thanks.

Clearly learnt nothing from what happened with Cifuentes and Cooper.

This will drag on and they’ll continue to give him time when it’s clear anyone else would be doing better.

The sooner he goes and takes Top, Rudkin, and Glover with him the better.

Poor examples, when they eventually did get sacked we appointed a worse manager and then got relegated.

Are you suggesting the next one we get in will be worse than Martin, or just the trend isn't promising?

Because its truly hard to imagine who the club could appoint that would turn the fans more than Brussel.

Reading between the lines, if RM is sacked I think a few fans think the next new manager will be the magic pill to get us up, we have a horrific track record of appointing bad managers and the next one will be no different.

Possibly! I'd just like a manager who doesn't come across as a total helmet wedded to a style that doesn't work and wins the occassional game. I've accepted promotion is a big ask now already! Maybe a push for playoffs....

If a change can happen, its gotta happen now though and that's the concern.

It won't happen though unless he loses the next 3 on the spin.

Calls for Lennon are extremely special.

There are no calls for Lennon, just Jacobs saying he would be interested, which is ridiculous. I'm interested in earning £1million, but it won't happen.

Edwards is "appreciated" though apparantly.

There are calls for Lennon from multiple fans else I wouldn’t have said it😂

Stating the obvious but Enzo was a far superior coach to Martin, and he got found out in the second half of that season, so this is only going to get worse if he stays.

Oh yeah he stays to at least Christmas imo

I was in a pub in Nottingham watching Liverpool vs Man City and a group of lads on a table near me, presumably Forest fans, were talking amongst themselves and asking how the hell Russell Martin hasn't been sacked by Leicester yet. Literally everyone knows this is pointless.

Enzo had an excellent fitness coach, Wilf breaking play up and KDH ripping up the league.

It's infuriating that the rest of the footballing world has nailed it, yet our incompetent clowns in the boardroom haven't got a clue.

The host next to Simon Jordan insists on being contrarian and thinks fans should realise Martin 'needs time'. Either way, I feel that a programme like that exists to be contrarian. They have a raison d'etre to be opposing any and all opinions anyway, otherwise people would not listen. It's the podcast equivalent of ragebait.

This isn't really true. I'd call it revisionism but, in fairness, people were saying it at the time and it was wrong then.

We played the same shape, the same personnel, the same tactics against Southampton as we did, say, Rotherham.

But we didn't though. He swapped Ricardo to the other side occasionally or pushed him further up instead of staying in the pivot with Winks. So he effectively adjusted the shape depending on the flow of the game, sometimes with great success. But I'm nitcpicking here.

I don't think it will.

Enzo was untested and talented so it took a while for everyone to work it out.

Russell Martin's tactics are obvious, unchanging and extremely well documented over several years.  Frankly, if you're a professional coach and haven't worked him out already, you shouldn't be in the job.

I'm not implying he never, during his time here, made tactical adjustments in game.

I'm saying that in the games in which we played faster, more direct, counter attacking football and pressed higher up the pitch (eg the Southampton games) the difference wasn't OUR approach, it was the opposition.

The setup was the same, the tactics were the same, we were just able to press them in their half because they kept it in their half where 90% of the teams in the league would have gone direct as quickly as they can or just not had the ball in the first place because they were standing off us parking the bus where Saints, Baggies, Norwich, etc didn't.

Think the owner should have a claw un the contract where if they dont do well in 5 to 8 games they leave without compensation or short term contracts until they have proven them self or something like that  cant have people coming in thinking its an easy pay day for 3 years.
