Trying to be positive then…

- Historically plays youth/builds young careers

- Clear playing style

- Needs this job to go well to recover reputation/get a future opportunity! ( as much as we do too)

- Should be able to bring in former players that should be too good for the level we’re at

I’d really value him owning the fact that he’s not a popular appointment in his first interview, we’re a club that recently tends to perform better when written off.

Funnily enough the fact his MK Dons and Swansea teams did better after he left gives me some hope that he can make the tough changes needed.  Whether he stays to see them come good is a bit secondary at the moment.  Its also possible he has learned from his experiences and got better.  Rangers are clearly a club in a mess though, as are we and that worried me a bit.

He really wouldn’t have been anywhere near my shortlist purely because I wanted to see us move away from that type of football and look to play more a high energy, high intensity style.

However my love for Leicester City, means that if he is appointed he comes in and is able to get something really positive going here because this club sure as hell needs it. I really do hope if appointed he can be a real success, but I have huge reservations.

This is how I feel at the mo as well.

Nothing to get excited with his appointment apart from his Mrs.
Would rather we went for Challinor.

Well that's a positive right there, guaranteed improvement for the second half of next season.

Exactly my thoughts too. I don't hold up that much hope. However, we really need someone to come in and do well, he'll need a fantastic start and if he gets that he may get some support and momentum. If not it might be Toxic very quickly(it already is).

Not what I want style wise, but hopefully he can prove me wrong.

He'll know promotion is the only option, Probably as champions if he wants to be deemed a success(by the fans). Other managers might have grace of the fan if just promotion.

Please God, no more Southampton players!

I agree re the scarring of previous Southampton players here

But it’s a reality of where we are: if we had a midfield 3 of Smallbone, Braybrooke and Page/Aasgard I’d back us to finally create and score goals from midfield again!

Bazunu again understandably written off given his recent performances would be a competent league 1 goalkeeper and would suit us more so than a Begovic in this system would

That’s our hope!

He’s had enough time to reflect post Rangers and as we all do you become better with experience- He’s still only 40 and in his 5-6th year of management -

It also might play into our hands that because his Rangers spell went that badly for him that he’s had to look at tweaking things ready for his next opportunity.
He should be out to prove a point!

Oh come on - he isn’t that bad.

Perhaps he’s a bit cheesy, but “Livin’ La Vida Loca” and other tracks were at least a bit of fun and got people on the dance floor.

It could be worse and …. oh ….. Russell? …. nah….. we’re doomed!! :nono::unsure:

Challinor has done really well everywhere he’s been. He has improved the teams he manages. I would give him a go. Don’t think many fans would be against his appointment and it would be like a breath of fresh air having someone young and up coming in. Would be like a Pearson appointment back in the day and would get fans excited for new season

Challinor is 10 years older than Martin.

Is this even true? MK Dons did better for one season and then they got relegated. Martin joined them mid season, as a newly promoted team, kept them up (19th) and stabilised them (13th) before leaving. They then finished in the play offs (lost) and got relegated the following season. This coming season is their first season back in League One since then.

Swansea haven't improved since he left. Martin left them having finished 10th and since then they've finished 11th (twice) and 14th.

I'd rather we go for Challinor too, he's mainly been a success at his previous clubs, but the only negative for me is that he was still unable to get Stockport over the line and into the Championship.

I know managers aren’t fully responsible these days but anyone got a list of the squad changes that happened at either club? Particularly Swansea?

At Southampton Brooke’s, thb and shea charles were all good incomings. Manning he moved over from Swansea if I remember correctly.
