Rodgers for the first 2 years played some of the best football we have ever played. Yes we ran out of steam twice and should have played Champions League, however you can underestimate how good that time was.

I still persist if he leaves after the defeat to Forest in the FA Cup, then he is viewed in a far different light on here. He’d go down as one of most successful coaches ever.

Him staying hurt his reputation really.

I dont question his football for the most part. I question him as a person leading our club.

I don't care what Russell Martin says. I care what Russell Martin does (or doesn't do).

Totally agree, he's not a likable bloke IMO. Comes across as a self-centred, self serving, patronising, back stabbing ****.

I've no interest in listening to him, all I care about is getting promoted from league 1.

Completely off the point here but I don’t remember Rodgers being likeable at all, remember even at his best thinking he was a bit of a bellend

Once you see through it and how they actually are, especially when the chips are down, then it doesnt work and just annoys you more.

But atm, its just good vibes, so him saying the things people want to hear will go down well.

That being said... Rodgers is king of appeasement. Martin's got big shoes to fill lol

I think Rodgers’ Leicester team was arguably as good as the won that won the league. Not sure what went wrong, but pre covid we looked nailed on for a Champions League position. Rodgers isn’t full of shit.

What a whopper:brendan_still:

I still don't like Martin and don't like that he is representing the club. I'm not getting excited until we are doing really well in the league.

Most if not all of our last 4 managers have talked the talk, most if not all had us on side (even Cooper had the majority) during pre season. Wouldn’t get carried away yet.

I like him. Wasn’t too keen on him at all but he does talk well and he is instilling a culture and work rate that is desperately needed.

just hope the club doesn’t sell him down the river with lies about transfers.

I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt for now , be a refreshing change to see the team playing like they mean it

Whatever anybody may think or say about him at least, for the first time in a long time we look as though we have a squad which looks fit AND committed to the club. It became totally demoralising seeing a bunch of overpaid journeymen turning out week after week who could only last 60 minutes (if that) and couldn'y give a monkey's whether we won or lost just as long as they could line their fat arses with money and walk away.

Hopefully he is turning that around with the remnants of those who are left with the advent of keen and enthusiastic young players with everything to play for.

Ran out of steam is a kind way to say we averaged just over a point a game for the majority of the season in 19/20 (last 21 games) which was slightly better than relegation form. 20/21 we were a bit more consistent.

Fair enough we did have title winning form before that but a long stretch of those best years was just as bad as the season we were relegated.

Listening to the RL podcast and he is very confident isn’t he. Justifying Southampton playing like they did in the Premier League because Spain won the euros and World Cup is pretty wild though 😂. Literally the worst squad in the league that season so they try to pass the ball out of defence. Wild.

Showing that absolutely zero lessons have been learned over the past three years. We need to sack him and get turned down by Graham Potter again (it's tradition at this point).

I have seen one of the preseason games, 2-1 win at Bristol Rovers. Plenty of energy and some good performances from Alvez and Braybrooke.

So i came away with some optimism, unlike a couple of years ago at Shrewsbury preseason when Cooper was in charge and there was very little energy.

Get behind the manager and the team.

Zero lessons learnt for sure. At least we aren’t the worst team on paper in this division though so more chance of working.

Oh I will, I think we will fail but I don’t think it will be down to him.

Did they improve once he left?

People are easily impressed.

Everyone knows this lad talks well. Fans of every club he’s been at have said as much.

I’ll reserve judgement until May next year.

I can’t remember it at the time but we were we all bowled over and excited by Sousa?

Preseason was largely pretty good.

His time here is the ultimate case of a game of two halves. First part was exceptional really, second half was also exceptional, unfortunately just in terms of how bad it was

There’s a timeline where he rightly gets sacked after Forest, we appoint an out of favour Unai Emery and we’ve just finished our 5th consecutive season playing European Football.

There is a timeline where we don't cave into his demands for a higher wage in the 19/20 season and do a swap deal with Arsenal for Emery.

We get champions league football that season but I also shudder to wonder what monstrosities we would have signed with CL money.
