if I'm not mistaken the argument is not that the ref saw slow-mo during the VAR monitor review, but that he only saw slow-mo. He's supposed to have access to real-time replays and he didn't.

Either way it doesn't matter, the fundamental facts don't change. It was never a red (multiple reviews by third-parties have confirmed this) but once it was given, there's no way to overturn it without shattering what's left of the tournament's credibility. It was a screw-up when it happened and now Infantino has made it a thousand times worse. And the really sad thing is the U.S. has been much better than the Sprouts and really should be able to handle them whether Balogun plays or not.

In what world is that not a red not only does he scrape his boot all the way down the calf he forces his ankle over which could have meant a serious break. It's considerable worse than Messi's and he should have gone as well. Both were significantly more dangerous than the Quansah red.

My wife had a routine hospital appointment today, which has been cancelled due to shortage of staff due to illness

Yeah, riiiiiggt.

yeah, we were told by a delivery company today they are short staffed because of drivers calling in sick..

I suppose it's better that way than drivers (or surgeons) still under the influence after staying up late for the game.

As above, if Pochettino had any class he'd leave Balogin out and state he won't accept any political interference in his team selections.

“Everyone that really loves the sport and trusts ethics and integrity, I think we celebrate all that decision,” Pochettino said. “We were punished enough against Bosnia Herzegovina to play with 10 men for 30 minutes [because of] a decision that was completely unfair … 99.9% of people agree there was an unfair red card.”

So not only have they introduced quarters, they've now introduced Sin Bins. Cool.

Maybe just an isolated snapshot but Infantino looked miserable when England were winning against Mexico

FIFA didn’t get what they wanted yesterday with Brazil and Mexico going out

It is SO funny Blatter was done for corruption with barely any evidence while baldilocks gets away with this

World's moved on. Can you imagine Reagan, Carter or even Nixon getting away with the corruption that takes place with theDon?

I see Trump has thanked FIFA for reversing the red card ban over what he called a "great injustice".

What does Trump know about football? It is a bloody awful decision for football.

More importantly what does he know about justice other than avoiding it.

Really hope Tuchel did get someone like Kane to call Trump for him, to ask FIFA to rescind Quansah's own suspension.

Obviously he was joking but can actually imagine someone grounded and innocent like Kane attempting to do it for his boss..

Absolutely knew Trump wouldn't be able to resist taking credit and publicly admitting he asked to have it overturned.

On the basis that, in France, they refer to NATO as OTAN, maybe we English should anglicise the French acronym FIFA to AFIF, standing for Association Football's International Federation, especially as English is the de facto international language.
