The only people that don’t care about it are the English

because we have such an awful attitude

The French will be up for this, they want to smash us, and probably will to be fair.

And I agree, these 3rd place matches are a waste of time and only really on for commercial reasons bla bla bla

but it is still nonetheless a competitive international match against a top ranked country, don’t we always bemoan that we don’t play the best nations often enough? Don’t we always say we only ever beat the easier nations? But always crash out to the better nations?

so now we are in a competitive match against a top top ranked nation, the English go “nah not for me” ????  :dunno: couldn’t make it up

it might not be a match to win the World Cup, but it’s points towards our fifa ranking and the chance for players to have a rare crack at the top ranked side, as well as for players to increase their goal tally’s in the competition etc etc and just in general to land one on the French and test ourselves

it’s better than seeing a mid week friendly match against Andorra ffs

I’m all in and want us to put them to the sword

Ticket sales are reported as low. It's not an England thing, it just seems an outdated tradition.

No one really wants this fixture and those that don't mind it wouldn't exactly be lost without it.

Exactly, probably be okay if it was two teams that saw this has a success but France are just as/more devastated than we are after the semi final, they played the best football and then put in a woeful performance against Spain. Like us they just wanted to get back home

It’s such a reviled fixture. I don’t know why the big brains at FIFA don’t put an actual prize at stake.

Automatic qualification for the next WC or something? The winners, runners up and 3rd place all get a spot.

It would at least make it interesting for absolutely everyone.

The only thing mildly interesting  about this non game will be the dynamics of the England players and Tuchel.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Mainoo has told Tuchel to do one.

Toney over Watkins is special.

Team :

Henderson
Quansah, Konsa, Guehi, Spence
Rice
Eze, Rogers, Saka, Rashford
Toney

Mainoo  is injured so not involved.

“ England on X, external: "Kobbie Mainoo is ruled out of today’s matchday squad to face France due to injury."”

Genuinely don’t know why they don’t rest rice as well he has been f***** last 2 games and no point making any injury worse . Glad Kane isn’t playing but why not Watkins 🤦‍♂️probably giving Henderson a run out as Trafford more likely to be un the squad for a few more years

Really don't get the clamouring for Maino. It's just the trendy opinion of the summer, no one desperate to see him now was calling for him to play before the tournament.

Think it’s more just that given the circumstances at 1-0, he could have been useful against Argentina in retaining the ball.

That and Man United fans.

He should’ve had minutes at this WC regardless of how fatigued Rice looked and the overplaying of an average 8 in Anderson.
