Being Martin's mate must have been the only criteria for signing this bozo. He should have retired ages ago. He's not good at anything a goalkeeper should be good at.

I feel annoyed as we have such a strong history of decent keepers and we had to sit and watch that today. At no point did it register with him that he was a complete tit when it came to pratting about the it the ball inside the box. He showed zero urgency and completely baffled me.

This is the one decision that’s the biggest worry for me about Martin. Having a good keeper is absolutely key and yet he’s surrounded himself with unreliable GK’s since he was at Southampton. The purchase and the selection of McCarthy is bizarre. He’s a career (veteran) back up keeper and he’s not going to improve now and he’s not even good with his feet

Another one who thinks he's Edersen or Alison and holds onto the ball too long and plays us into trouble...surely they haven't been told to do this.

Martin recruited McCarthy specifically to play out from the back despite the fact that McCarthy clearly has no ability whatsoever to play that way.

I don't understand why Jakub was dropped in the first place. He has improved his footwork and taking crosses as seen in preseason.

He would have saved the first Goal. McCarthy made no effort.

Jakub is an a poor keeper, but is better than Mcarthey

Shit - we knew he was shit - we’d already seen he was shit, especially when playing out from the back as we knew we would do under Martin.

Stol is miles better (even though not suited himself).

Martin’s overseeing of transfer activity is a major **** up.

I kind of understand managers going with players the know and trust. It takes a bit of a risk out of a transfer because they can vouch for the character and know what type of player they're getting.

So Martin has signed a player he chose not to use when Bazunu was fit at Southampton. Absolutely nuts. He didn't trust him to play his style of play at Southampton, and now we get the find out why. Slow hand clap all round.

What did we expect really? He's a 36 year old goalkeeper. Who is backing this sort of transfer? If I work for the club and the manager tells me he wants to sign a 36 year old goalkeeper then I'd be saying no.

He should be backup. We all assumed that when it was announced. To see him number 1 is a shock.
