Good signing for Ipswich. We pretty much bought him for that price and was always one of our best players. Didnt look out of place in the prem or in the world cup. He's going to play for a proper manager now too, which is something you don't get to experience at leicester. He'll be a £30m+ signing next summer, guaranteed

Thought when the day eventually came I'd be sad, but I don't think I'll be sad about any of this lot leaving after what's happened. Very talented player who will thrive under the right manager (probably not GON), but right now would prefer the £20m.

Fair play, that goal from his own half last season was one of the best examples of that kind of goal.  Stupendous.  

 

It was a small bit of light in amongst a generally crap season (2 seasons) for us all.

Obviously Ipswich couldn't believe how someone scored against them from over the half way line & had to buy him for £20m.  Doubt he'll do the same for the tractor boys in the Prem but no doubt he'll be trying to replicate one of his magic goals.

It’s difficult to put into words what this club has meant to me. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed by my teammates, the staff, and especially the incredible supporters.

Personally I think he's going out of the frying pan into the fire. 

He's also yet to prove himself in the prem. But sitting on the fence it'll be interesting to see how he gets on.

Strange one.  Forwards move in terms of level of football.  Backwards move in terms of the club he's going to.

 

He's got one year to impress before the inevitable relegation.  If not, he'll end up moving abroad or hovering around relegation threatened clubs year in year out.

I do feel his level is bottom prem, top Championship. Time will tell.

I think there is a lot of misplaced bitterness towards this player on here. In my opinion the club are massively responsible for his drop-off, firstly when Steve Cooper was appointed, as he was idiotically dropped from the first team, then he got injured away on duty. Then the club in trying to make things right, blew too much smoke up his arse with his "documentary" and t-shirt. Look at Fatawu under Enzo, he towed the line because Maresca would haul him if he didn't do what he was told to. Maresca was the one that had him changing from rough around the edges to potentially being a top Premier League player. 

 

20M sounds good for a League One player, but if you look at what West Ham got for Fernandes and now Summerville, it shows you how massive the mismanagement of the club is. A well-run club would have made serious bank on a player like Abdul, whereas we are going to find out *if* we get back to the Championship that 20M doesn't buy much these days, look at Boro signing Will Lankshear as an example of that.

 

Fatawu's ego was out of control by the end of it, but he didn't start out that way, the club facilitated it. For me, he was one of the most exciting players we had signed in years and it makes me sad that in selling Monga and Fatawu, a lot of the flair we had is gone.

We are absolutely not in League 1 because of Abdul Fatawu. I know a lot of the yer da types on here consistently spew about how he isn't bothered or doesn't try but I've never seen that from him. Frankly, if we had a squad with his attitude and ability we'd be a Premier League team.

 

It's extremely depressing that untalented players are given far more leeway than any maverick like Abdul.

Whether that’s true or not, you stay professional especially after a season out with an ACL injury.

Mavididi doesn't get glowing reviews on here but I feel like I've seen more anti-Fatawu sentiment than Stephy on here over the past year or so.

 

A really positive, exciting player badly let down by our inability to recruit anyone else (bar James) to be a goal threat, and having to play under a series of managers who are allergic to any semblance of attacking football.

 

It's a bloody miracle he got the numbers he did last season in a team full of ****ing custard drinkers.

He isnt a possession player, was at his best in the games we countered.  A move was needed for him.

I think thats a fair point. I think people largely gave up on Stephy to be honest, and he was a much cheaper player who was at his ceiling. I suppose the expectations for Fatawu were huge.

The magic moments were exactly the same though, until he was found out, i think he will struggle personally. he does not have many strings to his bow.
