We have quite clearly given a 3 year deal to an aging player that’s been out injured for ages because he had a good season in league one 5 years ago.

Signing hunger and promise beats signing somebody 'proven' on the decline. 

 

If you're a top team in a given league signing someone in their early to mid-twenties who proved their worth in the previous season? Sure, sound strategy. Jordan James will do well for Wolves. 

 

Signing someone who was good at this level a few years ago, has aged since and entering the latter stages of their career with limited game time in recent years? Well what we're seeing is what you get with that approach.
