Negativity

I know this could be controversial, but I find some of the constant negativity in the stands tiresome. Barely 5 minutes in, and people are shouting sarcastic comments about the style of football. I get that the last 4 years have been shocking but we are where we are, and I still want us to do well.

 

I feel like a lot of the fans' expectations are all wrong, where anything other than 46 wins is a failure, which is never going to happen. I was frustrated with yesterday, but out of all the performances over the years, I don't think it warranted people shouting/swearing at the players/manager throughout and at the end.

 

I'm not sure all the noise and negativity is helpful for the on-field stuff. I get people are entitled to feel how they feel, but for their own sanity, if they feel so negatively about the club, especially on-field performances, then why do you still go?

I’m torn with this. On the one hand, the negativity will get us nowhere, you have to give a new manager and particularly young players proper support. It’s stupidity to be booing them 3 games in. 
 

But I also can’t stand this blind positivity and loyalty a huge amount of our fans have. There’s no doubt in my mind, it has helped get us into this mess. The whole fanbase should have been fuming at least 2/3 years ago at the way our club was being run. There’s still so many people that don’t really care what is happening.

I guess it depends if you want change.

 

If our fans show apathy then the risk is that the club will believe that the current standards are acceptable.  

 

Surely the fans have every right to voice discontent if the belief is that the current situation is not good enough?

I mean the answer is surely to keep the negativity but make sure it's directed primarily at King Power and Rudkin. The 'takeover' news seems to have dampened people's willingness to direct the vocal frustration at the people responsible for the situation, which like the appointment of a completely incompetent and unlikable manager, is probably exactly what it was designed to do.

I think when a club/ team has won 4 games in almost a year negativity is allowed until that changes.

 

You cannot say to paying customers to stop moaning when they constantly buy faulty stuff. Yet instead of fixing the issue they send you sonthing else in return that is much worse year after year.

I dont think anyone is hiding away from that. We are in a period of massive transition shifting on a lot of players, who have been heavily involved in our demise. Equally bringing through a number of younger players, while trying to balance the squad with some more experienced heads, some who have been here and potentially will move on, others who have come in and haven't yet delivered to the standards we would expect.

 

But we are 3 games in to the league season, of what is largely a new team, and a very young one at that. The Notts County game we were let down by experienced players switching off at a critical moment, the Burton game, again 25 minutes of car crash football from the more experienced heads. From then I feel like we are getting better as a team. Should we be turning teams like MK Dons over? Of course we should, but on another day we score 3 or 4, Braybrookes shot comes off the inside off the post, Pages shot goes the underside of thr bar, and the ball comes off Cullen with more pace and crosses the line.

 

If we sat back and passed it around our back 4 with no intent to get forward yesterday I get it. And people will talk about the possession stats, and the passing and same old Russell Martin etc etc. But we spent the vast majority of that game working hard in and around their area to try and get the goal. The team obviously lacks that little bit of confidence, we're going to off the back of the past 2 years, you feel it in the stands so you definitely feel it on the pitch. We have still been let down by a club which has failed to get any sort of recognised striker at this level through the door. But come on, to take it out on this team at the moment, 3 games in, after the more positive steps a lot of younger players have made following the errors from their experienced colleagues over the first few games? Its a joke.

 

No change is going to come now, and definitely not this early, so why not just back the young team, see what they can do when they get backed, but carry on being vocal against the chariman and Rudkin. Just give this team a chance to grow.

I do think this team does deserve a bit more support. These players, many of them academy lads, with a few exceptions do not have hundreds of appearances in the top 2 divisions so expecting them to walk the league instantly is harsh.
 

We should definitely keep up criticism of the ownership though as they are the reason why our squad has fallen from top 5 in the country to struggling to score in league 1 in half a decade.

No striker no promotion it’s that simple. When the fans can see that you’re going to get negativity, then all you get off the gaffer at full time is telling us to calm down. We’ve not hit rock bottom yet either.

Very much agree with this sentiment.

 

Directing your negativity at ownership and getting behind the team can be done simultaneously.

The players haven’t had any criticism. It’s been directed at the grossly inappropriate managerial appointment.

It is tiresome. Fans have every right to be negative about our plight but there isn’t much balance or rationale to it. You look at yesterday and some basically booed a team of young lads and new players who are weeks into playing together for the first time - negativity towards those isn’t going to get us anywhere. 
 

Thought the chant about “going down again with Russell Martin” was also pretty cringe too, even if it was sung tongue cheek by some.

Although we did more than enough to win yesterday I can obviously understand the negativity. 
I’d look at it another way and ask what is there to be positive about this season? 
We haven’t been able to beat 3 sides who are arguably the worst teams in the division. 2 of which were promoted last season. 
Our recruitment once again looks poor both getting players in and who we hire as a manager. 
Young players heading out the door and being replaced with experienced players who neither have the quality and their best days are behind them. 
Sounds simple but we need to start winning matches.

We've gone from a club envied by the whole world to one of the biggest humiliations in football history. It's incredibly depressing and people feel powerless to stop it so they moan, human nature.

It’s insulting we still get the toxic positivity Pravda telling us we should actually be supporting our lowest ever position.

 

Nobody has specifically been booing young players, individually they’ve been received well.

I feel like all the chants, and sarcasm, seems to come from one gaggle.

 

I didn't hear those chants or boo's spread across the whole away end. In fact, barely heard them spread at all.

 

I do agree, its harmful to the confidence of the team, especially youngsters and new players who had no part to play in the fall of this club..

 

But I do understand people have had enough of the constant slop served up.

 

Might have new players, but its the exact same slop served up as the last few seasons and we're sat just above the relegation zone of league 1.

Bit of a pointless discussion. With what has happened to the club negativity is inevitable. The only thing that will stop it is better results, and that is on the club, the manager and the players.

The only thing I enjoy about Leicester right now is venting on here. Very therapeutic.

You have to call it as you see it but sometimes it is a bit tiring when people just constantly try to find the negativity in everything.

That miss from BDCR was game changer. That goes in and the game would have been won.  In hindsight, selecting him ahead of Bristic was possibley stupid.  

 

'Hopefully' another striker comes in before the window closes.  If it is to be a fossil, can it please be for one year only and not some crock looking for a Pension Top-up.

 

Being realistic, finding someone now and this late is nigh on impossible unless we look in DIV 2/National League or the lesser Europen Leagues.

 

As a side, the performance yesterday was quite good.   Some negatives such as Burns.  But everyone else put a shift in.

A paltry 2 points from 9 available, have standards well and truly dropped?
 

The next three games are crucial.

 

Plymouth and Oxford at home, followed by Stockport away. We really need 7–9 points from those three to get back on track. The negativity is justified; nobody is saying the season is over, but the performances and results need to improve quickly.

For me its based on if we start the youngsters. If we go down this route I think its important we are a little more patient.
