About the equivalent of England having a home qualifier against Finland. Anything but a win would have been an immediately sackable offense.

Set piece goal, penalty, dead atmosphere. It very much resembled an England home qualifier against a minnow as well.

BDCR scoring and refusing to celebrate was wild.

Really proved us wrong, Bobby, after another crap display capped with a penalty against a rock bottom club.

You mean after he got booed for being given the ball for the pen?

That sitter that Wigan missed in the first half was a gamechanger.

Imagine the atmosphere if it had gone in.

Two sitters in about 5 minutes, imagine if both had gone in!

Also, how much of bellend was the ref?

He was very card happy, I couldn’t believe there wasn’t a soft red.

He did though, give us a penalty not given anywhere other than the Stretford End at Old Trafford

That’s the big worry for me. Should be coming away from a 3-0 happy but there’s just so much not to like about how we play at the minute. It makes the losses even harder to accept.

How bad would you actually have to be to lose to that Wigan team? They had 2 absolute clear cut chances in first half. And you just know if they’d have taken them we wouldn’t have had any answers.

I’m never one to be doom and gloom after a win but you can’t ignore the cracks. I still think this squad should be top with no excuses. Martin has so much to do.

It reminded me of the initial wins under Peter Taylor. The feeling that it could easily have been a loss and that luck played a bigger part than strategy

I’m glad it’s not just me. I find it painful. I half think a lot of people just have wild expectations. Didn’t think Chaplin looked all that bad tonight? He’s had two injuries already this season and slowly working his way back up to speed, and he also actually looks like he at least cares. Which is what a lot of people have been crying out for.

I thought he was poor but certainly not worthy of being booed

The ref has absolutely no idea how the new 5 second throw in rule works 😂 after about 10 seconds he’d then blow his whistle to start counting down from 5 and on one occasion in the second half started counting down before the ball had even been picked up, the linesman on my side was even laughing when everybody was shouting at him 😂

Overall despite 3-0, it felt all very flat, a typical game and atmosphere for a midweek fixture against a crap opposition.

But since this formation change, in terms of going forward, I’ve seen encouraging patterns of play, far better than what we were producing when we played 4-1-4-1. Alves yet again looked lively as a wing-back, at times Wigan really struggled to contain Page’s ball-carrying ability, and especially in the first half, Wigan were struggling to pick up and contain Doyle when he was picking up pockets of space. It’s been very similar when Braybrooke has started, Bromley couldn’t handle him and he created three assists. Another positive is of course Riis getting on the scoresheet again.

But the negatives always come back to the defence. Wigan should’ve scored twice in the first half last night, a better team probably scores those chances. While watching this defence with the ball at their feet, especially Okoli, you can never feel calm, you’re always on edge where you feel a mistake could happen. Under Russell Martin this feeling will probably never change, and if he does get sacked at some point, it will play a huge part in his downfall.

Nothing wrong with dispatching teams like Wigan and Bromley in convincing fashion, but of course we need to do the same against better teams, starting with Stevenage at the weekend, which is a potential banana skin.

I mean that Wigan side and indeed Bromley have got poor performances in them well below your average League One relegation fodder.

We were very poor last night for me and still ran out comfortable and deserved 3-0 winners as they were shocking in the second half.

3 points and a clean sheet, can only beat what is in front of you. Again, means nothing if we dont back it up on Saturday, though.

Atmosphere was so strange, quite telling how poor it is at the KP at the moment when you can hear the players shouting on the pitch...

Only watched on TV but have heard plenty saying it themselves - utterly bizarre game with an atmosphere resembling a friendly.

We were bad. Wigan were probably the worst opposition to ever come to this ground in a league game.

Job done but absolutely nothing to give you any real confidence. Even relative to this league there'll be teams who punish some of our play tonight. It sounds pathetic to say it but if we play like that against even Stevenage on Saturday we'll lose.

It's increasingly tedious seeing segments of our fanbase lapping this sort of thing up as if it's anything other than the bare minimum. In the bigger picture we are still absolutely miles behind expectations.

The more people do this, the more you let the manager and board off for further underperformance. The more we'll continue to have another Luton, another Peterborough, another Oxford around the corner.

Like I say, job done, Riis looks a decent buy and it's nice to have a striker who just simply plays like a striker after having Ayew inflicted on us for so long. Alves did well. Actually thought Smallbone was steady as well.

But they are miles off convincing me. Absolutely miles off. This changes nothing in my eyes.

This is the part that really irritates me also. I’ve stopped following most LCFC VLOGS and podcasts because of this…. It doesn’t take a good football IQ to figure out what’s happening here, press us, you’ll get something from the game, sit off us and you’ll likely lose…..

And it’s mostly down to Martins ideology…. His desire for our defenders, to play football when they can’t….. and it inevitably lands us in trouble, it’s okay getting on at the CB’s, but it’s plainly flicking obvious what their flaws are, yet that doesn’t appear to matter to Brussel…..

Challinor will no doubt walk into Sheff Wednesday, and likely take them up, and we will stinking the place up with the same arrogance we have now and achieve nothing…..

But then the majority of the matchday going fan base will simply say “it’s not as bad as a Pleat years”……. Then it’s all okay. It’s the reason we’re ****ed, most of our fanbase would rather boast “at least we were there when we went bust” than actually try and do something about it.

We could, if we keep Russel there’s more chance we will get relegated.

Hopefully just a case that winning can breed some confidence. If we could find some consistency, and be challenging towards the top, the enthusiasm around the ground will grow. We are years into a constant cycle of crap and it’s not entitled to say it will take a few wins, convincing ones on score lines but also some performances to match to be at a point where we can talk about things turning around.

The manager of course doesn’t help and was an utterly (but in keeping) daft choice for a club that needs to reset, show some life and stop playing dead basically! I do think as won’t be going up under Martin as he does just have a negative, losing aura over him. But he won’t be binned for a while so keeping in touch in the meantime is important. Even when Cifuentes went, a good manager could have had a bounce and made that up but we went the other way!

It's been odd this season. Can only conclude that it's a mix of people being fed up at feeling shit about things, certain people wanting clicks or likes, or just plenty that don't really like facing reality. Personally, until we look like a promotion outfit, the praise should be very faint. We've won 5 games out of 12 in League One. Not a single person on here, or any site would've accepted that in August. Even people like the Brock would've probably ridiculed that it could happen (as a specialist in being wrong after all). We're extremely behind expectations. We're massively outspending the rest of the competition.

Get to 2 points a game and I'll stop criticising. It's very straight forward. That is a big ask now. Well that's their own fault.

I think there's a decent chunk of people who are trying to see the positive (and are a bit fed up of negativity) because it's been so bad for so long. It's understandable.

We gave it a miss, my God we are even more boring on TV than live. As Maximus said "are you not  entertained?" I hope it's more fun on Saturday.

A terrible game of football. We were so casual and lazy at times, they looked like a team currently bottom yet still should have had two goals.

We are really unconvincing.

People say lazy, but to me it comes across as completely arrogant.

I noticed it more against Luton, because Wigan very rarely pressed. When passing, or receiving a pass, its like both players think there is a god given right for the pass to complete each time. So often a player just waits there for it to come to them. It looks casual, but in reality i think its arrogance drummed into them that constant passing is the only way to play the game.

When someone presses or intercepts, we look almost surprised the opposition had the audacity to get in the way of our majestic passing.

There can’t be many teams that can make a 3-0 win feel underwhelming, but Leicester certainly manage it

They could have easily been 2-1 up at half time, bottom of the league and even in a 3-0 win we made it harder than it needed to be

Alves was good, Riis scores goals, and Kangas definitely needs to play more

Chaplin is crap, Smallbone is meh

I normally agree with most of your assessments, but I personally thought Smallbone was decent last night. Moved the ball quickly and looked for the forward pass. Perhaps his defensive work was hindered by a somewhat unnecessary yellow early on but overall I can see him being a decent addition. Whilst I thought Chaplin looked very unfit still, I felt a lot of his off ball work was very intelligent.
