Stevosevic Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 Give the bloke a chance FFS! Who said he wont be given a chance? But people to say he is a good signing seems a bit strange, none of us have seen him play and most of us didn't know who he was. I will reserve judgement, he might turn out to be a great signing or it could go the other way
martyn Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 N'Gotty is a good signing to be fair. We pissed the championship with Elliott and Taggart as centre halves and they had a combined age of about 70. Nobody can argue with his pedigree, he started 27 games for Brum last year as well.
MC Prussian Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 Not true, we may have four now. That could be five too many. But I'm willing to give Nielsen a chance. The Schmeichel bonus does it for me. But can't we finally ship out Douglas and Henderson/Logan?
Daggers Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 His chances were limited in his first season at Blues because of the central defensive partnership of Radhi Jaidi and Martin Taylor. However he forced his way back into the side towards the end of the season when he played at right back
Koke Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 Happy with both. Dont know much about this Jimmy lad, but N'Gotty would definitely strengthen our squad. A one year deal might have been more suitable, but nevertheless Im happy he is here.

Hanga Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 Grats on the signing of Jimmy Nielsen ! He has been our goalie for about 10 years, and is loved by the supporters for his loyalty. But he need'ed a new challenge, and Leicester seems like a club for a goalkeeper of his level. As I have written in the "song thread", you should not take the nickname "casino Jimmy" to closely. It is something the rival fans calls him, to make fun of him. He has had an addiction to gambling, which has caused huge problems in his life, but he has finally gotten out of it. Calling him casino Jimmy would therefor be a negative thing for him, as it would only give bad associations. His goalkeeping talents: + shot stopping + reflexes + Calm + Penalty saving - aerial ability - Domination in the box - Kicking ability Theres not too many videos on the net with saves from him, but you can find some videos from some of AaBs latest matches on this site: http://stage6.divx.com/videos/search:AaB He has a really good save in the match against OB. Gordon Banks style

mancunianfox Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 Normally when we sign players who have 'experience' it means they are journeymen who can't get into other teams in the league like Johnson and Horsfield. At least this time the experience is of playing for great clubs like Lyon, Milan, Marseille, making international appearances for France (when they were good), playing over a hundred games in the Premier League and gaining promotion from the Championship. Though I am not overly positive he isn't a bad signing in my opinion and if of a much better pedigree than the 'experienced' players we have had in recent years. NFFC Chris Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 Very good signing in N'Gotty who's very decent at championship level.Never heard of the other guy you have signed though.
shen Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 Not true, we may have four now. He HAS had a couple of mediocre/poor seasons of late. But most AaB fans seem convinced that he'll bounce back. He did indeed have an outstanding season in 2004 where he won the best goalkeeper award. But I doubt many would call him the best keeper in the Superliga today... Mark Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 Reasonably happy with both, just as long as De Zeeuw isn't in talks to be his partner at the back, theres adding experience and theres taking the piss Micky Adams style.

Blue Bob Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 OK the fun has started. Two decent signings. I hope that stearman will learn from N'gotty and become a better player. Needed a keeper as the three we have are average. Looking forward to the next set of signings - maybe tomorrow???
Simi Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 Quite happy with the signings. N Gotty is old, but if we stop there with the old men I wont mind. Don't know much about Casino Jimmy but from what I've read he looks like he will do well. Good start to the week.
Dames Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 Bout time we got some stuff sorted. Bit of experience at the back is what we need. Though i really doubt we should have De zueew and N'gotty at the back, pair one of them with Kissa.
Flynny Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 Reckon N'Gotty signing means De Zeeuw isn't coming? Don't see the point in having both of them. Would Nielsen have been free? I don't know if this has been asked yet, didn't bother to read the thread. Sorry.

breadandcheese Posted 4 June 2007 Share Posted 4 June 2007 If Bruno can help develop some of our defenders, then he'll be a good signing. I am a bit worried that he was never a noticeably great defender, i.e. never won massive plaudits as the lynchpin of a defence, but he has always been solid. Unsure about Nielsen. Would probably have preferred a keeper like Lee Camp and a bit worried that's he not a commanding keeper but will wait and see.
