Its hard to put into words how much these people deserve to be in this thread.

Sara Sharif trial: Father and stepmother found guilty of murder

I think it upsets me particularly because it all happened in and around my hometown.  Sara went to the school my niece and nephews went to, although a few years later.  I have friends round the corner from her home, and my daughter went to school close by.  Its horrifying these awful crimes can occur so close and not be seen or called out.

The other one is by far the dimmest.

Is it as dim as my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, that now barks if a door isn’t open enough to fit through?

Kemi Badenoch - for all of the below and more ...

PM defends sandwiches after Badenoch says they're 'not real food'

No, the headline of this post is not a joke. The prime minister has defended sandwiches after the leader of the opposition rubbished them.

In an interview with The Spectator, Kemi Badenoch was asked about her new life leading the Tory party, and she declared "lunch is for wimps".

"I have food brought in, and I work and eat at the same time," she said. "There's no time… Sometimes I will get a steak…"

She went on: "I'm not a sandwich person, I don't think sandwiches are a real food, it's what you have for breakfast."

She also has very particular requirements for the condition of bread, saying: "I will not touch bread if it's moist."

"Lunch is for wimps" ?? Sounds like she's been watching to much Only Fools and Horses.

She clearly thinks it's still the 1980's and attempting to channel Thatcher and Gordon Gekko simultaneously appeals.

Not the biggest cvnt in this thread but this vicar warrants a mention I think.

The irony is of course, he's a firm believer in the existence of a God.

The elves seem to have got away with it.

Clearly they both have issues.

That being said, why is she allowing this to happen to her?

Is it the classic withdrawal of an accusation by a wife who is a victim of domestic violence in order to maintain a status quo because otherwise her future is unknown and it's therefore safer to "put up with it" than pursue a conviction that might jeopardise her own future especially if she has no other resource to fall back on in financial terms or somewhere else to live?

Women like her are in a desperate situation and it takes a great deal of bravery and emotional strength to make changes.

Could be fear of repercussions as well as the reasons you state. The control it takes from the abuser over years and years takes ages to break. Ages to break the cycle.

It's never straightforward in these cases and there's always several layers to domestic abuse.

Totally agree. I've met many women (and some men) who have been assaulted by their partners several times and almost without exception when we involved the police, they didn't go on to press charges.

It made me really sad and frustrated that I knew we'd be back there again in a few months time only to go through the same process of safeguarding referrals knowing that nothing much would change until the perpetrator got convicted but, without the victim pressing charges and seeing it through, there's not much hope for them ever getting a resolution.
