Lloyd Dyer

There are some times where Lloyd Dyer's speed is simply enough to create chances for Leicester, win a long ball to relieve pressure, stretch the other team's back line or simply put pressure on them.

The Championship is getting better, but there are still some games where blistering pace even without technical skill is enough to beat some opposing wingbacks. As such, there is still room in the squad for Dyer--both as a starter when he is in good form and as a sub against tired opponents.

If I recall correctly, Dyer had a pretty good pre-season last year, when Sheffield Wednesday were after him, but he stayed at Leicester, worked hard and fought for his place. I'd imagine we're seeing more of the same from him this time around.

Dyer is more than good enough to be in our squad each week. His pace is always a threat and always make at least one chance for himself.

Games like Derby away last season show he is still good enough. His final ball and finishing isn't always the best but his work rate and desire to win are only an asset.

Although he has to start and not come off the bench for me. Plays first 60 mins and then fades but when he has come off the bench before he never gets into the game and can't seemingly get the pace. However him against a tired defence would be good so maybe that's something to work on.

More than worth a place in the squad every week though.

He's one of those who on his day could be a premier league player, but he has a day every 15 games and that's what's costing him.

I think the team is to blame partly too though, they know he can blitz past anyone but they don't seem confident enough to give him the ball enough.

Weren't people saying the exact same thing this time last year ?

Then Sven left, Nige brought Lloyd back in and he found form again and put in some fantastic performances

I think Nigel selects his team on fitness, form and maybe even confidence, so I have no problem if Lloyd works hard enough and earns his place in the team

His signing goes to show how good Nigel & Co are at picking up players, we got the lad for free 3 years ago now and he has surpassed any expectation he came here under.

Gotta love Lloyd

It's great to see a thread supporting Dyer. I feel he offers the squad a lot and can be a real danger to the opposition. Like many wingers, even in the prem, his form can be erratic but this also comes down to being heavily marked or our players not getting the ball to him.

Also dont forget that when it looked like he was being pushed out towards sheff wednesday what did he do? Sulk? No, he came out in the media claimed his love for the club, that he felt that he belonged here and knuckled down and worked hard to get back in the team.

I honestly thought he was one of our stand out players towards the end of the season, he has always done a good job for us and I think can be a real handfull for any opposition side on his day. Sure he isn't all that consistent, and sometimes his delivery isn't perfect, but not that many players do have all of that in the Championship. His pace is his strength and he uses it to good effect, he's a great option as back-up and I have confidence in Lloyd to come in if Knockaert doesn't pull up any trees. Seems like he enjoys playing for Leicester as well, so I think we'd be fools to try and get rid when he's a great option as back-up.

Love Dyer to bits, his effort and commitment are beyond question, tho his final ball as said on many an occasion, is def his downfall. I'm more than happy for him to stay and be part of the squad.

Can't say the same for Gallagher tho i'm afraid guys, will be very disappointed to see him get much pitch time this season :(

Dyer should be the most loved player at the club. He loves leicester, he tries his hardest every game and he has the best attitude possible. He is one of the most exciting players in the squad because he can produce moments of magic. I think he receives criticism far too often, although he is so one footed that if any club did a bit of research they could work out how to keep him quiet.

Dyer calls Leicester "his club". That's enough for me not to slag him off, whether he is good enough is another matter. But whilst he is being picked he will have 100% support from me.

He can be very effective at this level at times.

Lloyd will always give you 100% and has been a good servant to the club over the last few years since he's been here. However I think we'll probably see him on the bench most of the time. For example if the game is in the 70th minute and the opposition is tiring, Lloyd could come on and wreak havoc.

Dyer is a terrific servant to this club and even his crosses would reap more reward if we ever had sufficient people trying to get on the end of them. But Pearson is right to make sure there is sufficient cover and competition.

As it stands right now I'd see Gallagher's place as more at risk than Dyer's. Especially if someone else emerges who can take free-kicks and corners with a lot more imagination and consistency than we've been used to.

Because, if he's not scoring free-kicks, Gallagher has long looked to be a luxury who's defensive capabilities escape me, whereas Dyer shows an appetite for tracking back when we've lost the ball and is generally quite effective.

I was quoting Happy Fox....

Pearson has historically been pretty predictable in his team selections so suggesting that Knocky will 'definitely play' is a big shout.

lol "knocky" i like it

I like Dyer, but I just think he's inconsistent and at times lack's an end product. Which is why he's probably never played at a higher level than the Championship. He comes inside too often as well, which really annoy's me.

I agree with Thracian though, I think Gallagher's place is more at risk. Hopefully it is as well, because I think Dyer brings more to the team than Gallagher does. I believe Dyer can be an impact sub; a good squad player for us.

Every player has plus and minus points that's why they play for us, this is why you need a good technical, motivational, imaginative yet pragmatic manager to get the best out of them and ensure the sum of the parts is greater than the individuals can provide. He needs to ensure players complement each other and cancel out the individual short comings as much as is possible.

Whether Pearson's the man to do it and can do it with the players he's assembled no one knows not even him yet.

Time will tell, with yet another newly assembled team whether Dyer can be a successful part of that team.

And pigs can fly.

Exactly. Just because Gallagher scores more goals and gets more assists doesn't mean anything.

Lloyd Dyer has stated on numerous occasions he loves playing for our club. Ok that doesnt give him a right to be in the team but he gives his all consistantly n when he gets going it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. He'll never be Ryan Giggs ability-wise but his head down n run ethos can be effective. I'd rather have him than any of the other options.

I like Dyer aswell.

He wil give it 100% all the time, even if nothing is paying off for him he will try, we have seen some incredible displays from him over past season's and we can still expect some this season. He is a good player to have whether starting or coming from the bench, yes his end product lacks but he doesn't half link up well with Konchesky and cut inside from that left wing.

Lloyd has always been a danger, and I dislike that some people slag him off.
