Anyone prepared to entertain the idea that Arya is simply playing the long game on this one? She knows Littlefinger is watching, so she's doing exactly what he wants her to do, until the time is right...and then BAM.

She can't tell Sansa about this because she feels that then Sansa's own responses wouldn't look right, so scaring her in the way that she has is something she is having to do out of necessity.

Looks smug.

That was extremely satisfying. Didn't think Sansa was in on it the whole time, but still so so awesome.

What a brilliant episode - one of the best ever IMO. That final few minutes....

Wonder where Jaime will go from here?

Also..."his name...is Aegon Targaryen." Knew it.

That might result in some problems down the road when Dany realises the nephew she just screwed has a better claim to the Iron Throne than her...

top episode. Has set it up so well for the final season. So glad (in a way) that Cersei isnt going to help the fight in the North. Makes it more entertaining to see the final battle between jon/daenarys vs cersei. I was struggling to see how Cercei could win it but with the golden company its gonna be interesting!

Littlefingers trial...

Looking forward to Cersei getting deposed. Such a stupid tyrant - not far off the mad king. Fan theories about her being his child don't seem to fit, but she's not half trying to lend credence to them.

Actually annoyed how they got through the wall - means they've just been waiting six and a half seasons for the living to **** up and hand them a dragon.

The children of the forest only created the night's king, the white walkers (those ice men) came from the children that the night's king turned, and the wights are zombies that the night's king controls (or his white walkers/generals just like how that group of died when Jon killed the white walker)

I heard the BNP created the white walkers due to the excessive immigration??

seriously, can we talk about the night kings plan?

They start making moves against the wall at the very beginning of the show, 7 seasons later they're through. To get through he's relying on a lord commander he doesn't know exists showing compassion for the wildlings (not a reasonable expectation), encountering him and feeling the need to bulk up defences in the wall. He then relies on the queen being opposed to that lord commander, causing him to ally with a dragon queen, with dragons that were extinct at the time he began to move. He's then relying on them discussing trapping a Wight to show the queen, and not one person in that meeting knowing the queen well enough to point out she's obviously going to refuse to help/betray them, then for that mission to go tits up and dragons to come north to save them, where he can kill one and claim it for his army.

Hows he getting through if one person acts remotely sensibly and they don't go north of the wall?

For me, they're just relentlessly marching south with the changing weather. I'm not sure there's a plan so much as they slowly roll over everything in their path.

What he's just done was pounce on an opportunity but I'm sure they'd have come up with do something else otherwise, I'm fairly sure they could have written in to the story that just through sheer weight of numbers and their freakish resilience, the army of the dead could have just ****ing climbed the wall if needs be.

But if you believe the Bran theories then, yes, the Night King could have known exactly what all of his opponents were going to do (which is why he had the chains on hand ready ;))

He's not relying on any of that, he can see the future and knows what will happen, the prophecy (if there was one) would be "a dragon will come and the wall will fall" he's just taking advantage of the situation.

Except for the old magic in the walls keeping them out.

So he shoots some spell at it and the magic breaks?

It's fantasy, you can make up any old bollocks and call it canon.

Especially given we have absolutely no idea what the Night King is capable of, he's just a rumoured boogie man. He could do anything, we've got no idea.

1) The NK is patient. That much is obvious. He's in no particular hurry.

2) I do not believe he has a plan. He is Death and Chaos, he spreads terror and fear to all living. That panic and fear plays into his hands...

It's easy to say that one has to act sensibly and rationally in a desperate situation. Would the sensible thing be to have let them march on the wall and expect it to hold?

In all likelihood, the NK would have found a way past the wall either way (in the books there is/are alternative possibilities).
As a viewer who is privvy to all information, it is easy to be clever when you have the benefit of hindsight (and foresight).
But the point is that 'Winter is coming', i.e. Death is inevitable. Whatever they would have done/not done, it was not going to stop Death coming for them.
