wellyfox Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 Personally I think this is an ideal situation. As it stands we would be lucky to get £2m for him, but if he does well a Celtic who are a big club known worldwide his worth could rise dramatically. So basically we can stick him in the shop window without having to fork out his £25k per week wages!! First thing I would expect Celtic to have agreed a fee and the option to buy in the deal. (So no shop window if he performs) Second I doubt they are paying more than half his wages as they are nxt to skint as well.
Simo86 Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 Andrew Neville has cocked it up yet again!! Our valuation is too high £3m £2-2.5m should be fine. So he's cocked up because a paper says that we want £3m
Happy Fox Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 So he's cocked up because a paper says that we want £3m He has cocked up may times before I would say on the whole his transfer negotiating skills during the Sven reign did more damage than good.
Dan Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 Well how did that work out for us this season? Im getting more excited with the path Pearson seems to be taking us on for nest season... cutting the wage bill, getting in the young hungry lads with potential Not the point. At the time of him joining us, we looked to be a title favourite. Money will have played a part but we were definitely an attractive looking side to join, only it backfired absolutely horrendously. I'm totally with you on the second point and I'm preferring this summer, I'd rather not have more media attention and a manager admitting he'd pay Beckham's wages.
Simo86 Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 He has cocked up may times before I would say on the whole his transfer negotiating skills during the Sven reign did more damage than good. You can't lay the blame on one person especially when you don't have a clue what is going on behind the scenes
Raw Dykes Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 First thing I would expect Celtic to have agreed a fee and the option to buy in the deal. (So no shop window if he performs) Second I doubt they are paying more than half his wages as they are nxt to skint as well. This makes no sense. How is it not getting him in the shop window? Even if Celtic have first refusal, why is it not getting him in the shop window? Celtic wouldn't want to borrow an expensive player to play for their reserves. Either they buy him, we win, or they refuse, and a different club buys him, we win. What do you think the option to buy means? Either Celtic buy him, or they don't and no-one else is allowed to put an offer in? Second, I doubt we'd loan him out if the borrowing club wasn't going to pay most of his wages. What would be the point? We wouldn't really benefit. Celtic might be next to skint, but that's relatively speaking, i.e. poorer than they used to be. They are still a big club and have some players on PL wages. They can afford to pay Mills most, if not all, of his £30k a week (or whatever it is). The more I think about this, the more sure I am it's ideal for us. Celtic are a very big club in a rubbish league. It's perfect - Mills could look world-class playing for Celtic in the SPL next season, especially with the only other decent club in that league on its knees, and his price tag should rocket. Also, playing for Celtic will look great on his CV, and lots of people will be watching him. I just hope he plays better than he did the season just gone.
MrSpaM Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 Must say I find it a bit weird the Celtic fans seem to have no idea about this deal whatsoever, three forums i've been through now and not a single one of them mentions Matt Mills

jock2612 Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 We know from Bert etc that NP has approx 8 targets and that some of these will have to be financed by sales. It was just a thought that we need approx 3Ml for Mills to get these players as we have spent near 3M already and therefore a loan would mean an amended transfer target list.It could also result in getting rid of Konch for a fee and bringing in Shorey on a free etc.The situation with Mills and his ridiculous wages is a real mess!!!!

Not from Bert but John Percy said we are after 8 players : 4 from the transfer kitty and 4 from sales of players..

NewburyFox Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 http://www.ja606.co....wArticle/122743 They're really not complimentary about this Wilson fella though .... Probably why Nigel has rejected a potential swap deal then.
Big Dave Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 Probably why Nigel has rejected a potential swap deal then. Why, because NFP read a dodgy forum Jock forum?
NewburyFox Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 Why, because NFP read a dodgy forum Jock forum? Because he's a poor player, obviously. The Celtic fans have seen it and Nigel must've too.

Bolton ready to snap up Leicester defender Mills The Foxes stopper is already in talks over a move to Celtic but Coyle wants him as he faces up to losing Zat Knight on a Bosman Fox hunt: Coyle wants Mills to help Bolton make an instant Prem return Bolton boss Owen Coyle has targeted Leicester’s transfer-listed centre-half Matt Mills – as he faces up to losing Zat Knight. Coyle is shocked that Knight has refused to commit to the Trotters having initially saying he wanted to stay at the Reebok, which resulted in a new contract offer. Knight, 32, could now leave on a free – with Premier League new boys West Ham leading the interested parties. And Coyle will now step up his interest in Mills, who is available after a bust-up with Foxes manager Nigel Pearson. Mills is already in talks with Celtic about a swap deal that would see fellow defender Kelvin Wilson go to Leicester in exchange. The 25-year-old moved to the Foxes for £4.5million from Reading last year, but he could now leave the club for a bargain fee. Coyle will open discussions about Mills shortly. He would be a straight replacement for Knight, but Bolton still need a second centre-half to boost their squad for a strong Championship promotion push.

Matt Mills is one of the finest players to pull on a Leicester Cirty shirt, he is incredibly valuable and highly skilled....if you can snap him up for anything under 5 million...youve done a great deal Owen!
Jaspa Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Why does every different paper quote the Mills fee as something different ? Ive heard £5.5, £2.5, £2 and £4 Million all in the past months
nickelbyfox Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Why does every different paper quote the Mills fee as something different ? Ive heard £5.5, £2.5, £2 and £4 Million all in the past months Because obviously no one know, I personally think we should try and loan out Mills for the season. He is still relatively young and despite most people's beliefs think he hasn't turned shit overnight and can still come good for us, especially if we get in the Premier League. Think he has become a scapegoat for our poor for last season as well as others and still as potential, anyways thats my feeling
J.Lisemore Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 So, Zat Knight (a better player) leaves for free, and they line up Matt Mills, who is going to cost them at least £3M , plus his ridiculous wages. All the better for us though, so no complaints

nickelbyfox Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 He did not turn shit overnight he has always been shit , just ask the Reading fans. I have, couple of my mates who support the royals rated him, and they were more knowledgeable supporters in my humble opinion. Worth 5 mil - simple no, but were upset he was leaving, didnt rate him shit at all. But fair enough if you have a better range of opinions from reading fans who all thought he was shit, think it is similar to our fans who think Bamba is awful now.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Will Bolton really be in a financial position to be able to afford Mills, his fee and wages won't be cheap and I'm guessing relegation has hit them hard, unless their going to go all out to try and bounce back within the first season.
Guest Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Wilson is a good player Says the guy who thinks Bamba isn't. That doesn't fill me with confidence.
