Alex Baptiste

Speaking of Naughton it's a shame he's being used at left back these days. He 's got more potential than he's showing. Good on him for being in the Spurs side but I'd like to see him be a regular at right back somewhere, going to struggle to get in ahead of Walker there.

No competition. Naughton is, and was for us, a quality right back. Which is why he is now starting fairly regularly for Spurs....

Wrt Baptiste. These stories don't just come from nowhere, it's not like the Sven era where we are linked with any old player he has signed in the past. There has to be some substance to it, and denial by Nige means nothing really - look at the Wood deal. I'd like to see it happen as I feel he could add a lot to the squad and I also feel we need a little defensive cover with SSL being out for a while.

Personally, I'd prefer to buy a left back. Still feel Konchesky is our weak link. Teams seem to target him. His experience is no doubt valuable, but he is a bit slow. Also, having a Striker turned left back isn't exactly ideal as back up. That's where I'd look to improve if I was Nige

From the Leicester Mercury today.

City have also been linked with a move for Blackpool defender Alex Baptiste. Reports suggest that a £1 million offer has been accepted by the Tangerines, but Shakespeare said: "I have seen the other names mentioned and they are news to me.

"Speculation is always around but we don't comment on speculation. If there are players out there who we think will improve us then we will look at that, but there is no news at the moment."

Shakespeare is a bit more forthcoming than Pearson and he states he has heard nothing about this transfer from within the club.

Probably nothing to it.

He has different qualities going forward compared to naughton.

Naughton had the better end product, but rarely looked like he was confident with the ball at his feet.

De laet is confident running with the ball and his runs are often great to watch, but doesnt have the end product as often as naughton.

Can we combine the 2?

You really are deluded.

And look at how shit De Laet was for Norwich compared to how good Naughton was for Norwich in the same season

On Baptiste, even though I rate him, after today and Keane's performance, I don't think we need him.

Extend Keane's loan, and with St Ledger's trip to Germany being positive, then I'm sure he may be back by February.
