kingfox Posted 31 December 2012 Posted 31 December 2012 De Laet better than Naughton going forward...jesus wept. Naughton in my opinion was better in all areas. At least Naughton scored goals when he got forward, De Laet hasn't managed it yet.
Deucalion Posted 31 December 2012 Posted 31 December 2012 Much as I like De Laet I think Naughton was much better.
dannythefox Posted 31 December 2012 Posted 31 December 2012 When Naughton got forward sometimes he scored when was the last time richie scored?
Kitchandro Posted 31 December 2012 Posted 31 December 2012 Speaking of Naughton it's a shame he's being used at left back these days. He 's got more potential than he's showing. Good on him for being in the Spurs side but I'd like to see him be a regular at right back somewhere, going to struggle to get in ahead of Walker there.
FoxesFan123 Posted 31 December 2012 Posted 31 December 2012 Soon as Assou Ekotto is back from injury Naughton will go back to the bench. Great player, especially at right back but just a shame he has an even better player in Walker ahead of him there. Anyway back to Baptiste....
coolhandfox Posted 31 December 2012 Posted 31 December 2012 Naughton, far better better player going forward then De Laet, defensively about on par.
Bettsj2 Posted 31 December 2012 Posted 31 December 2012 Pointless comparison really. Naughton was streets ahead but that was the sort of player we were paying for back then. It would be like comparing Vardy to the Yak.
Grey Fox Posted 31 December 2012 Posted 31 December 2012 Pointless comparison really. Naughton was streets ahead but that was the sort of player we were paying for back then. It would be like comparing Vardy to the Yak. Imagine a combination of Vardy and the Yak. The Yak only scores goals, Vardy only doesn't.
cjslcfc Posted 1 January 2013 Posted 1 January 2013 No competition. Naughton is, and was for us, a quality right back. Which is why he is now starting fairly regularly for Spurs.... Wrt Baptiste. These stories don't just come from nowhere, it's not like the Sven era where we are linked with any old player he has signed in the past. There has to be some substance to it, and denial by Nige means nothing really - look at the Wood deal. I'd like to see it happen as I feel he could add a lot to the squad and I also feel we need a little defensive cover with SSL being out for a while. Personally, I'd prefer to buy a left back. Still feel Konchesky is our weak link. Teams seem to target him. His experience is no doubt valuable, but he is a bit slow. Also, having a Striker turned left back isn't exactly ideal as back up. That's where I'd look to improve if I was Nige
dpjfox Posted 1 January 2013 Posted 1 January 2013 When is Baptiste going to get a mention on this thread?
flowwolf Posted 1 January 2013 Posted 1 January 2013 When is Baptiste going to get a mention on this thread? If you think this thread is bad have a look at the Powell thread.
Deucalion Posted 1 January 2013 Posted 1 January 2013 From the Leicester Mercury today. City have also been linked with a move for Blackpool defender Alex Baptiste. Reports suggest that a £1 million offer has been accepted by the Tangerines, but Shakespeare said: "I have seen the other names mentioned and they are news to me. "Speculation is always around but we don't comment on speculation. If there are players out there who we think will improve us then we will look at that, but there is no news at the moment." Shakespeare is a bit more forthcoming than Pearson and he states he has heard nothing about this transfer from within the club. Probably nothing to it.
Kierzz Posted 1 January 2013 Posted 1 January 2013 He has different qualities going forward compared to naughton. Naughton had the better end product, but rarely looked like he was confident with the ball at his feet. De laet is confident running with the ball and his runs are often great to watch, but doesnt have the end product as often as naughton. Can we combine the 2? You really are deluded. And look at how shit De Laet was for Norwich compared to how good Naughton was for Norwich in the same season
Dr The Singh Posted 1 January 2013 Posted 1 January 2013 Some of our fans........really.....comparing DL to Naughtey!!!!!! FACE PALM!!
ballsdeep Posted 1 January 2013 Posted 1 January 2013 Baptiste is 28/1 to score first for us today on Betfred, have I missed something?? :xmasblink: 33s actually, Morgan 28s
ScouseFox Posted 1 January 2013 Posted 1 January 2013 When Naughton got forward sometimes he scored when was the last time richie scored?
kingfox Posted 1 January 2013 Posted 1 January 2013 On Baptiste, even though I rate him, after today and Keane's performance, I don't think we need him. Extend Keane's loan, and with St Ledger's trip to Germany being positive, then I'm sure he may be back by February.
Tielemans63 Posted 1 January 2013 Posted 1 January 2013 Wonder what our chances of getting Keane permanently are?
Spudulike Posted 1 January 2013 Posted 1 January 2013 Wonder what our chances of getting Keane permanently are? Next to nil I'd think. However, he did sound positive about staying longer if it means he'll get match time.
