Ely fox Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 If you can get those prices for those players YOU have a job for City with a 6 figure salary. Whilst some of those players could get those fees they won't because either they won't accpet the drop in wages that tey' would have to or the buying team simply won't pay them the wages that that demand. Our problem here is not takers or transfer fees it's all about wages. 1.1 million for Waghorn? Really are you sure about that one. Free transfer more like.
Raw Dykes Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 Has Becks buggered off yet? I don't think he has yet. Only a matter of time, hopefully. If we can get shot of him, Danns, Wellens, Gally and St. Ledger, then I think we'll have a really good hand in the transfer market, despite FFP. Otherwise, I think we could struggle.

morris1234 Posted 4 June 2013 Posted 4 June 2013 Have heard charlton made an offer to loan Mr Beckford before he joined Huddersfield. They could come back in for him, i wouldn't mind loaning him back out aslong as the bulk of the wages are being paid by the other team!
Happy Fox Posted 4 June 2013 Posted 4 June 2013 No team in the championship can afford Beckford's wages the fee they could but with FFP I doubt many teams in this division are going to be forking out millions of pounds, perhaps QPR might though come on Arry get your f**king money out and sign Beckford pretty please?
LCFC FOX Posted 4 June 2013 Posted 4 June 2013 If Beckford refuses to take a wage cut and therefor no club signs him, Do you reckon Pearson will have him around and in contention of being in our squad?
Simo86 Posted 4 June 2013 Posted 4 June 2013 If Beckford refuses to take a wage cut and therefor no club signs him, Do you reckon Pearson will have him around and in contention of being in our squad? Probably be out on loan again
Dan Posted 4 June 2013 Posted 4 June 2013 He'll be loaned out again I reckon. If we've actually scrapped this deal with Bolton on failure to agree a fee then we're either very deluded or Bolton were offering something like £10k. The priority is getting him off the wage bill. A decent fee would've been a bonus.
yorkie1999 Posted 4 June 2013 Posted 4 June 2013 Make him mop the toilets out and clean the boots for for first team, then fine him a weeks wages everytime he refuses. He'll soon want to end his contract then.
Steven Posted 4 June 2013 Posted 4 June 2013 Make him mop the toilets out and clean the boots for for first team, then fine him a weeks wages everytime he refuses. He'll soon want to end his contract then. In between the court appearances whilst he sues the arse off the Club?

MGLCFC Posted 4 June 2013 Posted 4 June 2013 I thought it had been said that Bolton wanted him as a free transfer, and that`s why the deal had broke down. This is the real problem - teams know we have players who we need to move on, they know we are desperate to lower our wage bill, so offer peanuts, hence they get a £2million rated player for next to nothing. Unfortunately for us most Championship teams can't compete with the wages we offer, so the player has no desire to move on, which is restricting our buying potential. Unfortunately we are in a lose lose situation. These players aren't good enough for the Premier League who could afford their wages, yet no one in our league want to pay their wages. Therefore, unless we are prepared to cut our losses again (just like with Mills) I think we'll be stuck with Danns, Beckford et al for another season and the best we can hope for are season long loans where the majority of their excessive wages are paid for.

In other words a 70:30 split where we pay the majority of there wages and the other club pays a small percentage it is something I guess but not ideal.

yorkie1999 Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 Yeah not sure how 'professional football player' and ' slave' can get mixed up.... Okay then, just carry on paying his 35000 a week for the the next 2 years.
hackneyfox Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 35k a week now? It was 28k a week last week, did he get a payrise for us making the play-offs?

MrSpaM Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 Yeah not sure how 'professional football player' and ' slave' can get mixed up.... Unfortunaty this is how things work in the real world, it's written into most peoples contracts that they must do any given job by the company that's employed them. If a company offers you another job you usually have the option of taking it or leaving, whether it's a promotion or a demotion to cleaner, that's just how it is. This is how a lot of companies get around paying people compensation for sacking them, they offered you a different job and you didn't want to take it, therefore it was your choice to leave rather than them pushing you to do so.

If you are treated like this, get a solicitor
Jace Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 If I was being paid £28000 a week to clean the toilets at the KP Stadium it would be the best years of my life
MPH Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 Okay then, just carry on paying his 35000 a week for the the next 2 years. certainly wouldn't want that! Well in this real world I doubt very much the PFA would just stand back and let a professional football player clean toilets....
