Dickov22 Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 Saw the highlights on the football league show this morning and noticed two things mainly: Nugent's confidence in front of goal looked non-existent. They were running through our midfield like a knife through butter. No. I was at the game and we had much more possession. Their midfield didn't create anything. We didn't play well, but the suggestion they were rubbing through our midfield isn't true. Drinkwater actually had a decent game. We lost the game in attack- we didn't create a single chance in the second half. Running
Aus Fox Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 shearer / nugent , good comparison . i think what i said was it didnt make you a player scoring them . nuges game aint good . and because hes scored a few pens , it still aint good ! you actually agreed with me . Where did I compare Shearer and Nugent? Nugent has been top scorer for 2 seasons without scorning a penalty previously. Is he playing at the top of his game at the minute? No does that make him a bad player? No. Realise we are in the championship if he scored and played well every week he wouldn't be here
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 Maybe we could try playing hammond and pushing king on a bit more, because at the moment Nuge offers nothing to the side. I don't think it'll be too long before we see Hammond playing regularly, a proper anchor in midfield could do the likes of King and Tony the world of good.
dog_4 Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 Nugent hasn't had a good game yet! Vardy looks like his old self! Nugent and vardy would be more effective coming off the bench
jamesmilner Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 i think if you took nugents penalties away this season , this season would be embarrassing for him . no one can argue with that . one thing is for sure , he can only get better . but at the mo , he aint doing it other than bagging pens and that aint good enough for me . i will heap praise on him when he deserves it .
Bert Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 i think if you took nugents penalties away this season , this season would be embarrassing for him . no one can argue with that . one thing is for sure , he can only get better . but at the mo , he aint doing it other than bagging pens and that aint good enough for me . i will heap praise on him when he deserves it .Yeah but you can't take the penalties away from him!
LCFC FOX Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 Hes going in January with Kasper, Morgan and Konch Waggy will come back on form to replace Nugent Bakayogo will be ready to play at LB to replace Konch Wasyl will be ready to replace Morgan Then a new cheap goalkeeper will sign in January to replace Kasper
Monsell1976 Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 Yes, lets all blame a lack of service!A lot of his problems yesterday was service, long ball after long ball, I do agree he is not in form and hasn't been for a long time, and yes he misses to many chances, yes and so does vardy probably even more so but is vardy getting the same grief.Ok he probably needs dropping for wood, but who do you put in for vardy?, as both have similar styles, as in work hard but not scoring. Then wood comes back in, and his performances haven't been great since he first came to us. I do agree we need better options up front, but I think people are a little hard on nugent, and due to the acceptance by many that vardy isn't going to score many, any striker partnered with him will be under pressure to get the goals.
Johnny Cash Posted 6 October 2013 Author Posted 6 October 2013 He'll start the next game, and the one after that and the one after that. He doesn't need to score, that's why he runs around with a smile on his face. He'll 'earn' a new contract too.
Corky Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 i think if you took nugents penalties away this season , this season would be embarrassing for him . no one can argue with that . one thing is for sure , he can only get better . but at the mo , he aint doing it other than bagging pens and that aint good enough for me . i will heap praise on him when he deserves it . And if you took away our defeats we'd be unbeaten.
whitlock Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 Yeah but you can't take the penalties away from him! Let him have the penalties, he's play has been pony. Being realistic 7 penalties this year is very abnormal, so if you take the abnormalities he has one goal this season and terrible play to show for that. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't even think Nuge has earn't one penalty this year. Keep his goals, well done he's got 7/8 or whatever he has got (all from 12 yards bar 1) but the underlying fact is that he has been rubbish.
dog_4 Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 Nugent is the new Paul Gallagher! Can't play football but can take penalties!
Danno Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 Nugent is the new Paul Gallagher! Can't play football but can take penalties!Yeah, Gallagher's scored over 30 goals in the last 2 seasons hasn't he.
Guest Col city fan Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 Yeah, Gallagher's scored over 30 goals in the last 2 seasons hasn't he. Bloody good point Dan!
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 Hasn't been good this season really. Was good against Barnsley but other than that he hasn't looked sharp. He was like a wall yesterday, every ball played up to him just bounced off.
dog_4 Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 Nugent gives the ball away alot, doesn't score from open play only 3 in his last 20 plus appearances, can't hold the ball up!Not good enough! Waghorn probably has scored as many goals from open play since february and can hold the ball up yet fans say he can't play football and Nugents at the other end of the spectrum with everyone bumming him.
svensson Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 Nugent gives the ball away alot, doesn't score from open play only 3 in his last 20 plus appearances, can't hold the ball up!Not good enough! Haha thats laughable.. Get Waggy back, play him for a few games and you will be asking for Nugent to be put back in the team.. Clueless.
lgfualol Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 It's the first time this season where he wasn't giggling for 90 minutes.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 It's the first time this season where he wasn't giggling for 90 minutes. But he still got booked
shade Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 Nugent gives the ball away alot, doesn't score from open play only 3 in his last 20 plus appearances, can't hold the ball up!Not good enough! dog_4 Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 how many of those 39 in 109 in the first 15 to 20 games of the season and the business end of the season? He went missing for months in his first season and went missing for months last season.
svensson Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 how many of those 39 in 109 in the first 15 to 20 games of the season and the business end of the season? He went missing for months in his first season and went missing for months last season. As do a lot of championship strikers....
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 how many of those 39 in 109 in the first 15 to 20 games of the season and the business end of the season? He went missing for months in his first season and went missing for months last season. You're right we need a striker that scores every week. You stumping up the £6,000,000 I take it?
MattyFromLE Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 As said previously. Of course Nugent is going to have his faults - else he'd be in the Premier League/Spain/Germany. All this "it doesn't count if..." is absolute tosh. If the ball goes over the line as a direct consequence of part of Nugent's anatomy coming into contact with the ball, then he's scored a goal right? Goals win games, couldn't give a flying wotsit if we didn't scored a goal from open play for the rest of the season, and only scored penalties and got promoted. I'm fairly sure nobody at the end of the season will say: "Yeah but, you can't get promoted because penalties don't count..." will they? Jeeeeeeeeeez.

I won't deny that. Just makes me laugh how some people will use anything to make their argument stronger. The fans that go know who plays well and who doesn't. Just because a player is having a bad spell does that make them a bad player? No.
