The I Love Lloyd Dyer Thread.

I must admit I thought he was utter crap tonight. Maybe as fans we respond too much to the people sitting around us, but the Lloyd Dyer I saw looked not so much the proverbial, as the literal jack-in-the-box player.

Don't get me wrong, I love the guy. But a deflected goal and plenty of running around (in a side that looked inexcusably lethargic), while admirable, isn't a substitute for actually being good enough.

He was shit I thought......

I didn't think it was his best game this season, he was poor today he scored but otherwise gave the ball away too much.

He scored, but I agree with Callabinho, thought overall he was rubbish tonight.

Didn't really get going, and looked uninterested.

Ha ha- looked uninterested?! He ran his socks off as per. Majority on here could see he played well, and I've just read Henry Winter, Chief football writer for the Telegraph describe him as 'excellent'. I think you're wrong.

To be fair I said before last night there is no way that Dyer could play in the premier league if we get promoted, but I would give him a go he was our only threat tonight if you ask me.

Along with Drinkwater he was the only one that really went at them.

He's having his best season with us so far, long may it continue.

I can't understand why anybody thought he played well? He probably beat Boyata twice maybe three times all evening, his passing was sloppy and he kept getting the ball caught up between his feet! He is not good enough to play in the premier league. End of.

Not faulting his effort last night, just quality.

Excellent performance from Lloyd, confirming that he would be an asset in the Premier, if he maintained this season's form.

He doesn't get everything right, but he combined well with Konch and his passing is much improved this season - he spots and executes passes well most of the time, often under pressure in tight spaces.

I remember him beating Boyata a lot more than twice....of course, he didn't always find a Leicester player with his cross, but that isn't always his fault if strikers don't make the right runs or get blocked off / tightly marked by opposing defenders. His pace troubled them - witness the number of fouls on him.

I'd always expected us to lose yesterday (especially when I saw the team they put out), so one of the most interesting things to me was always going to be to see which players might be able to hack it in the Premier. On that showing, it might be a few more than I thought.

Our midfield / creative players mainly looked like they could perform at a higher level, though they'd need to cut out more of the unforced errors that get punished more severely in the Premier (e.g. Knocky giving away free-kick and possession for first 2 goals...though he caused them problems, too). I doubt that we'd be able to get away with a 4-man midfield featuring Knocky and Lloyd in the Premier, but the 2nd half midfield did well, and Knocky could play "in the hole" behind a single striker, as part of a midfield 5 or could alternate with Lloyd.

That match tended to show that, at the moment, none of our strikers could move up a division successfully - and our defence - particularly centre backs - would need strengthening (though Konch did well, I thought). I fully expected Wasyl to get shown up badly for slowness at right back, but he kept it together much better than I expected, using his experience to stand off his attacker - and his speed of recovery was better than I was expecting.

Anyway, back to concentrating on the real world of the Championship...

I mentioned it on a previous thread but I'll say it again in here!

I ****ing love him!

He spoke to me on Facebook chat after the Mk Dons home game!

I said to him 'good game today Lloyd' then he said 'thanks' and then deleted me.

But I still love him!!

He has been much better this season, was very lightweight last night.

Henry Winter is an idiot.

Dyer's the ultimate professional to me and has been a fabulous long-term servant to our club.

Not only does he have pace and talent in abundance he shows it against every level of opponent and has an entirely positive attitude.

* He gives 100% whatever the opposition or the circumstances.

* He doesn't moan when he's on the bench or left out of the matchday squad.

* He scores goals

* He makes goals

* He works back when the ball's been lost.

* He doesn't risk losing the ball in the back third of the field but does the simple thing efficiently.

* He balances his individual ability with an ability to play within a team.

* He seems to genuinely enjoy being a footballer and playing for our club.

To me he's our number one player and in lots of aspects.
