riyad mahrez - Who knows....

Debate how good he may or may not be all you like, we're clearly not going to sign him. This is a twitter rumour that has got out of hand.

Even though we've been to scout him three times?

Scouting a player doesn't necessarily mean we're signing him. lol

And yes, the Twitter spectacle of recent days was predominantly the work of two "followers" plus Mahrez' agent.

We do need the wingers.. i'd really like a player like Riyad to add something new and exciting to the squad. We cant make Lloyd do all of those 90mins and expect him to play at the same level of greatness

After listening to Pearson on RL, think this may happen. People around me today were suggesting NP has a healthy war chest for January, as the debt issue has released funds.

 clearly it shows that we're interested In him.

What does it mean then?

Why do people presume that we're losing someone if we sign him, we NEED options in the wide areas. Knocky and Lloyd can't and won't play every game. Shoudl they all play at once then it allows Knocky to play in his NATURAL centre role.

If it is Mahrez or another wide man, they are needed!

Agree with this. We are in the process of lacing our squad with the final bits of quality to gain promotion and any vital remaining additions. With a busy fixture list and still being in a cup 2 men to fill 2 positions is not ideal. Extra cover will be required. Mahrez will not replace anyone in the lineup or the squad as we won't sell either of our 2 wingers when we need at least 2 and NP will not throw an English football rookie in over someone like dyer or knockaert who have many games experience under their belt. I should imagine Mahrez will be used as an impact sub/wildcard for the remainder of the season unless injuries (as much a dyer is on fire he may not have the legs for a full season) require him in the first team.

Speaking of the fa cup tie it wouldn't suprise me if Mahrez was signed before then so he can get a game under his belt without the staff worrying about how the introduction may affect the teams performance in the league. Plus NP likes to do business early.

What was said regarding transfers, mahrez, funds etc on rl?

Caught the last part on the way home. He joked the Mahrez rumour down asking stringer to give him a synopsis of the player and then said yeh he sounds good. Stringer asked him if there was anything formal and he laughed and said we'll see. RL dubbed him Anthony knockaert part 2.

Nothing on anybody' else (Pearson is probably annoyed Mahrez got out) and he shut down talk about funds fairly sharpish. It was actually a pretty civil and pleasant interview from the pair of the and NP is usually quite forceful when transfer are mentioned - makes me think the Mahrez deal is on.

NP is very discrete and that is a good thing we don't want agents and other clubs to know we have too much wonga otherwise it will cost an arm and a leg to buy players.

We've got loads of arms and legs to buy players. Just need to detach them from St Ledger and Danns first.

A good strategy in the transfer market but hopefully his 'openness' and humorous approach means he has accepted it can't be kept quiet any longer (French media) or the deal is all but done. Hoping for the latter as I think this guy would be a quality signing.

It still remains to be seen whether he signs or not, doesn't it?

Yep.

But going to scout him three times doesn't suggest to me that it's "clearly not going to happen".

Personally think all we need in Jan is a winger - we're short in that dept. Striker? We have plenty and just need them to hit form at the right time/s.
