kingfox Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 Can I ask what exactly these assumptions he wants to come here are based on? Last week it was said that he would tell Hyypia he wants out. Honestly the people on here saying hes shit after seeing him a couple of times is ridiculous. For me he is exactly what we ned and would fit in perfectly. As far as the fee goes he probably not worth that much but people know we have a bit of money so why wouldn't they ask for more? Quite a few players similar to him, that we could of got by now, for the same amount.

In other words, the kind of rumours we'd automatically rubbish if Vardy 'apparently' said he wanted to join Southampton.
johnny the fox Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 This thread is still in its infancy, still a long way to go with this saga, I won't take it seriously until its well into three figures.
Harry - LCFC Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. No other top flight club is interested are they? Surely the best way to judge how good a player is is to watch him play, not look at who else has tried to sign him. Is it really that hard to imagine a good player is only targeted by one of the ten or so clubs (at a push) he's be good enough for?
sdb Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 They know we're obviously desperate for him and are gonna squeeze every penny out of us. It's Maynard all over. We need to look elsewhere until he hands in a transfer request.

Guest Col city fan Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 No-one can say whether Ulloa scoring 7 goals in a La Liga season with Almeria makes him a good signing or a bad signing. I realise Im just spitting in the ocean here, but Ill say it anyway. You cant judge a striker just on the amount of goals he scores. Vardy and Nugent are both prime examples of this. Their all round game helps the team to WIN GAMES which is the only real statistic worth measuring. Yakubu scores goals but the value of his goals has to be weighed against the cost to the team of him spending the other 89 minutes in a deck chair. Beckford scores occasionally - but his all-round game is so bad that he would have to score around 30 a season to make him of any value. I think Ulloa will help us win games. I dont care if he does this whilst scoring 7 or 70 goals in a season. At last... A very sensible post.. I completely agree.
Tom's Pasta Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 Because it's so early in the transfer window maybe they're holding out for more, or for a rival bidder. Really hope nige et al have a back up plan
DanTheFox07 Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 even if he does put in a request, we still have to meet their valuation. they dont have to sell him. the fact that we put in a fourth bid shows a degree of desperation (NP admitted he had missed out on a couple of targets) and i suspect brighton are merely playing a game where they will get an over inflated fee or not sell. they know we have the money so nigel has to decide - either he wants him or he doesnt and its now at the stage that if he wants him, he ends up looking a bad negotiator as he pays a high fee. knowing that our leader doesnt like to look a 'a twat' (his words not mine), i suspect we will now throw in the towel on this and i fear we could sign a striker that we're not completely keen on as a kneejerk reaction. my view is that you go with your instinct and your research. swallow your pride, pay the fee, and move on. we're swimming with the big boys now and cannot expect to get bargain buys as we have done recently in the championship. it's pretty obvious were not going to meet there valuation at 10million, considering we have bid 6million and that's our 4th bid! and just because they value you him at 10million doesn't mean that they can't change there mind especially if he hand's in a transfer request, they might be forced to meeting us somewhere before say 7-8million? anyway if we get towards that sort of money we might aswell look at a striker in europe who will have more pedigree than him anyway.
Hack Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 Back to calling him shit, I never wanted him anyway etc etc etc. Well then that must be the end of the matter, seeing you never wanted him. What is Nige thinking not consulting you on his player targets.
Mark_w Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 Well then that must be the end of the matter, seeing you never wanted him. What is Nige thinking not consulting you on his player targets. I think you've missed the point.
Perseus Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 Last week it was said that he would tell Hyypia he wants out. Quite a few players similar to him, that we could of got by now, for the same amount. Who ?
Hack Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 I think you've missed the point. Ok missed his sarcasm. I am just so over these would be managers on this site. So much immaturity it is frustrating. So I apologise to LCFC2013 for my comment to his post. It should be aimed at Kingfox!!! Clearly the master of football manager and buying players.
Snik-Snok Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 In regular Spanish the double l is pronounced like a y, like uyoa. However in argentine Spanish the double l is pronounced like sh, so ushoa. I learnt this when practicing my Spanish with a couple of argentine girls I met in Marrakech. Ricky villa is always called Ricky viya, but it should actually be pronounced Ricky visha.
MPH Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Seems to me like they are trying to force him to hand in a transfer request. They'd probably save About a million in loyalty bonuses if he did that... Which is, coincidentally, how much he'd lose out on too. If we do ever end up in talks with him, there's no guarantee that he'd sign anyway... I'd be surprised if an alleged transfer fee of £7.5m would mean the player would only want 30k a week... he'll probably think it was only fitting his wages represented the value of his transfer fee...
Albert Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Last week it was said that he would tell Hyypia he wants out. Quite a few players similar to him, that we could of got by now, for the same amount. I like your enthusiasm King Fox but you are quite deluded on the whole transfer process. It isn't a game of Football manager where things get done after a few clicks on your mouse button! Do u think Pearson and Walsh are just sitting around twiddling their thumbs? The whole transfer process is so complicated today and it takes time. Be patient and keep the faith in our leaders....I have no doubt they will deliver before the season starts
jamiegoode Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 So we are to waste £6/7+ million on a 27/28 who in my eyes isn't all that, and most definitely not premiership quality, if Pearson / staff are being financial minded I presume Ulloa would be our "marquee" signing....dissapointed if we get him, but there must be something Pearson likes of we have bid a fair few times....
VLC86 Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Well then that must be the end of the matter, seeing you never wanted him. What is Nige thinking not consulting you on his player targets. I have no idea Hack but I'm glad we are on the same page, if you could give him a call and let him know I have a higher than average knowledge of football matters that would be great. Have a wonderful day 👍
